Take the right lane. Launch. Make a hard left. Collect insurance and sue saying he was passing in a no passing lane. Buy a corvette with proceeds

Thats going to be a pretty lousy idea. They don't run far behind LS cars.

You'd be seeing the tail lights..

Mach 1's run 13.3's-13.6's all day.

worst thing that can happen is you lose,,i say go for it and if he wins tell him to meet you back there in a couple months and then you can see how much your mods helped....maybe he doesnt have the drivers mod

My buddy had a Mach1 a few years back...... All he had done was K&N drop in,X-pipe no cats, 4.10s and DRs he would drag me down the track with ease 3-5 lengths but on the highway his ass was mine....
I then got a tune,longtubes,X-pipe and CAI then i would beat him by roughly the same as he would beat me........4 valve motors are very tough!

In short he is gonna spank you!

i am pretty sure this kid cant drive a stick for shit. i heard him leave the station and he tryed to burn out ... it went like this pull out to the right almost stalling ... rolling about 5mph clutch floor it till he is bouncing off the rev limiter... dump clutch ... after pissin of the motor at 1,000,000 rpms and 50ft of tire smoke ... try to grab 2nd and fail and bog the motor because he took 3 seconds to shift....

he needs the driver mod

Up to you then, maybe this is YOUR chance to make HIM look bad :D

Sounds like you would get walked normally, but if he messes up bad.... IE bog of the century.... Missed shift... Rev limiter... Ect.. Ect...

4 valve motors are very tough!

ESPECIALLY if they actually have some cubes under those heads. This just makes me wonder whether there is any truth to those rumors that it is not too difficult to bolt Nissan Titan heads to a SBC bottom end.

I worked a Mach 1 when I was just full bolt ons. He launched right with me but I pulled away every gear.

If the kid absolutely cannot drive, and you can you will probably still win. Driver is huge, especially in a stick car.

Drivers being equal, he'll probably put it on you pretty good.

I forget exactly where I saw it. But there are certainly more than a few catches here. One is head bolt pattern. A typical DOHC head has five bolts across on each side of the head (giving four bolts per cylinder). But your typical SBC has essentially five bolts per cylinder. This pattern is NEVER used for DOHC, since it would put a bolt right in the middle of an intake port. Yes, this could be accommodated for if you were to make DOHC heads specifically for a SBC (by raising the intake ports somewhat and using a stud instead of a bolt). But my point is that there is NO WAY to bolt the head right on. Assuming the bore spacing is correct on the Titan heads, you would either need to weld in the bolt holes, or use an aftermarket block (like Dart) which has no holes drilled. And holes would need to be drilled specifically for the Titan heads. Timing gear is another problem. Since you would probably need a dummy cam in the block in order to drive the oil pump (and distributer, if you wish to go that route), the best setup would be to use a stock-type timing chain to drive the dummy cam, as well as a gearbox to drive sprockets which are geared to the cams by means of timing belts or chains. Of course, you're not going to find something like this at Summit or Jegs. It would be purely DIY, assuming you have the resources to fabricate this sort of drive system (not that it is rocket science, but most of us just can't crank out something like this). Then there's all the other stuff. For instance, you would still need a custom intake manifold for the motor, as the Titan piece probably wouldn't fit once the heads are bolted to a SBC bottom end. And unfortunately, mods for this motor (like cams, headers, etc) are just not very common. So you would probably have to make them yourself as well (which shouldn't be a problem if you can make the cam drive). So in the end, there are certainly cheaper and easier ways to make power or even go DOHC (a used LT5 would probably be cheaper in the end). I suppose the whole Titan idea is really more something to think about than anything else.

This video is getting old now but should give you an idea.

My mods- CAI, Magnaflow Catback, 4.10 gears. On this setup with street tires it went 13.6 at 103ish
Mach 1- CAI

This is from about a 15mph roll.

get some naws and you'll be ok.
orrr you could be really lucky and the mach 1 driver could be a terrible driver.

I would say just go for it. I'll race anything these days. I actually prefer racing people who claim to run unheard of times for their setup, just to prove my point...An LSX swap was not the answer for my car . All of my buddies are LSX guys, and I'm the guy with the token LTX. I gotta hold my ground somehow. Dooooo EEeeeeet!

i saw him again and i had out of the gate but once the car got going he was gone... i would gain while he tryed to change gears ... i actually got back ahead of him while he was looking for 2nd but then he left me once he found it

"i need naws two of the big ones and i need them by tonight"

I have raced two mach's in mine and beat them both. It was on an 1/8 track though and im not sure they could drive quite as well as they said they could. I pulled a full car on both of them twice.
