View Full Version : Help with OTVC spark plug wires
Does anyone have good pictures of the routing for going OTVC with the plug wires? Or maybe a write-up? I have done searches on other boards and have come up with nothing :frustrated:. . . ?

Passenger side is just easy up the front of the motor and over. Drivers side I usually snaked a couple behind the accessory bracket and a couple up and around the inside of the compressor before heading up.

If you take them to a dealership, ask them to install them for you. I did that when I needed my opti replaced, they routed them back through the stock location and I just took them OVTC. :finger:

I think the drivers is the easy side, because the ab is on the passenger side. As for ab routing, there is a gap in the middle of the ab between the block and the ab. It is the perfect size for the wires and good access to the opti. The hole is circled in the attached pic.

I'm hoping Travis (BigT94Z) will chime in as I remember finding pics of the OTVC setup with him when he bought my otvc kit

It's super easy, mine were Elite wires (not sure if there around anymore) and then I bought some universal wire holders from jegs

Yeah, header installs suck. You will get it though, you REALLY need to get the car high off the ground.

Yea get it as high off the ground as possible to do the headers. A lift would be best obviously...
not to bring my own thread back to life . . . but do I have to have cut-to-fit wires for this ? ? ? Or can I just use a set of stock length wires ??
If I need cut-to-fit wires does anyone know the part number for LT1 style wires ? ? I've already been sent the wrong style :frustrated:

Order them from Thunder Racing. You should be able to get the set of CTL wires and opti ends for around $60 I think.
That's who sent me the wrong wires . . . the cut to fit wires they sent only have 90's with them . . . don't i need a straight boot to hook to the opti ? ? ?

I got my kit from TR. They are cut but not exact and only have one 90 for the plugs. The other end should be bare and the kit includes a straight boot kit for the bare ends.
well I must have gotten sent the wrong kind because all I have is a 90 on one end and another little bag of 90's to put on . . . which does me no good . . .

Call up Thunder....they'll make it right. I've NEVER had an issue with them.

I could not do the Taylor wires, no matter what I tried I could not assemble them. I ended up ordering Magnecors with my own custom measurements and they work perfectly.

MSD part # 3302 for Opti boots. However they are expensive 12 bucks for 2. But I got my set of MSD wires for 40 bucks from the local checkers. Don't know why it rang up 90 but he adjusted it down to 40 and gave me my military discount on top of that!!! Of course I had to buy the boots. 57 bucks to my door. But still better then 160 bucks for the MSD wires with the opti boots.

Nice work Adam and thank you for the clear pictures.
People seem to like routing them up behind the PS pulley for some reason, then they wonder why the wires get cut up.
