I`m planning on buying some SFCs for my Z but I am unsure what type to buy. I am looking at the UMI brand boxed or tube. Any suggestions?:peace2:

i have tube style, great ground clearance. however i believe the boxed ones are stronger

i bought the boxed ones, not installed as of yet, but apparently theres no clearance loss

I have the SLP double diamond boxed and they are incredibly strong. Ground clearance wasn't a big issue either

For the double diamond ones, will they clear LT headers and stock location exhaust? Do you know if they'll clear tunnel-mounted torque arms?

IMO (my engineering mind at work here) the double diamond shaped that fasten to each other will provide the most structural rigidity and will be the most effective. I wouldn't think you'd REALLY need those until you'd reach about 475-500 RWHP though.

They don't tie together, but they bolt to where that cheap little brace goes. I have had no clearance problems with my Kook's LT's and true duals. No problem with the giant Addco torque arm either.

Excellent. I might change to those instead of tubular bolt-ins. I'll be hitting about 650 RWHP soon, probably a better idea than the regular tubulars.

650? WOW! I'd be happy with 500 to the ground

650hp? Wow. My wallet says no to that! I wish I could though. Thank for the info!:peace2:

650+ will happen when you go broke spending about 13K on Engine, Trans, Procharger, and Moser 12 bolt :D

Good news is...my car will be fast as f*ck.
Bad news is...I'm too broke to put fuel in it.

I've done a little reading and I'm looking mainly at the UMI tubular weld-on.

Shon Herron has them on sale still, I believe. I have bolt in tubular, though understand welding them is superior.

Yup, all BMR, Spohn and UMI products are on sale thru the end of May.

Im using the Spohn tubular weld-in style on my car and have a the BMR boxed weld-ins on my dads car. Both are very well made and cant really tell a difference which is better. The boxed ones will be kind of visable from the side view if you dont have side skirts on your car so keep that in mind aswell.
