I went down to the drag strip tonight in my 02 Camaro SS M6 with bolt-ons (mods in my sig). Havent ever raced a standard down the track before so this was an interesting experience! LOL!
First Run - 14.8 @ 103 with a 2.85 60'! SCORE! http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.ls1tech.com/get/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif
(I was literally sideways at the 60' mark! LMAO!)
2nd Run - Getting better!
R/T: .929
60': 2.24
330: 5.925
1/8: 8.862
MPH: 84.50
1000: 11.359
1/4: 13.460
MPH: 107.69
3rd Run:
R/T: .978
60': 2.095
330: 5.707
1/8: 8.652
MPH: 84.36
1000: 11.152
1/4: 13.26
MPH: 107.44
I decided to call it a night after that run. I was pretty happy with my results for my first time at the track with the car (second time ever racing a car there). I was hoping for 12's, but they'll eventually come. I was also running with Traction control on for the last 2 runs & dropped my tire pressure down to 20psi from 30psi. I was also wondering if my trap speed is somewhat high for the time... I thought 108mph would be in the 12's.
I just need to get my 60' down even father. Is a 1.7/1.8 possible on street tires (not DR's) with my set-up?

I don't forsee you being able to knock down a 1.7-1.8 60' on stock suspension and street tires, but out of curiousity what tires do you have? I assume the Rebels are 10.5" out back.

Your trap will top a little usually when you get it to 60 hard, but I would say you're gonna need a set of DRs

What mods? iirc it only has a lid and a cat-back. You should have let studderin make a pass in it. That guy CAN SHIFT! If your car had 12's in it last night, studderin would have got you that slip. I really don't think you need suspension (yet) to hit a 12. Firts things first, you need some tires. Don't run some stupid 18" drag radial, because then YOU WILL need suspension to get it to hook. An 18" drag radial has NO sidewall which means the tire has literally no give to it. It is solely relying on the compound to get bite. Get yourself a used set of 15" draglites or similar and a set of 26 or 27x 10.5 Hoosiers. They have a LOT of sidewall which will absorb a hit (or stiff suspension). Once you start making a ton of power and can ignite a soft set of 15" drag tires, then you need some suspension help. There are plenty of guys from the NewEra crew that i'm sure could lend you a set of tires for a pass or 2 to see for yourself.

Yeah, Johnny was there last night. He thought my 2.85 60' was hilarious.
I'll see if I can get him to drive it next time I go down, since hes one hell of a driver. I've never seen a 6 speed driver as sinsistant as him.
The best I've 60' on my 315/35 street tires was a 1.91 on all stock suspension and that track was prepped like no other.
Is your car tuned? That should be a 110-112mph car with the pacesetters on there...

That MPH has 12s your 60ft doesnt. Some DRs will put you there with some practice. DOT Slicks will prob put you there next time out.
PS if you get MT DRs dont expect more than a couple thousand miles out of them, less if you race or drive the car hard a lot. I highly doubt I would ever buy another set of MT DRs again.

I disagree I can't believe how well my MT's held up after a bunch of street driving going to Byron racing about 4 times and then the LTX shootout and they had plenty of tread left when I sold them. Now the Hoosiers dr's seem to wear much more quickly.

I got about 3000 miles out of my Hoosier Quick Time Pros and I run a spooled rear. They will hook better than any drag radial out there, plus they weigh a shit-ton less. Just don't get caught in the rain, lol.

Yes but you have a A4, totally different ball game. My buddy just killed a set of MTs in less than 2000mile and they were feathered like crazy.
The Hoosier DRs dont have any tread to start with lol
