Ok,so as some of you know, I recently had my car on the dyno.....
Im making great power and am happy, however I have what we (my tunerS and I) believe to be an issue maxin out the MAF.
Now before I ever read up on LT1 stuff, I purchased the Granatelli MAF, I know alot of people say it is junk, however I dont think Im buying a new MAF anytime soon....
My tuner suggested a MAF Masager...
I did alot of googling and read good and bad stuff about them... I saw some of our own boosted members made comments saying they are not needed.... well I think I need it.
Im getting a stumble in the car as well as the MAXED out MAF code (whatever that is) at the same time , right around 5g.... which leads me to believe it is not a coincidence.... my power/torque curve are beautiful right up until that point...
WIll someone please point me in the right direction to buy one of these MAF Masagers, and some advise on the BEST or the BEST would be appreciated as well. Because I have seen a few companies making them, (although I cant find them for the LT1)....
Please help asap... btw, both of my tuners use LT1-EDIT,and neither can figure out how to "trick" the maf any other way.... thanks in advance guys...

I don't know anything about that stuff but I'm wondering why not just have him give you a speeddensity tune?
Almost every high powered FI car I know runs on SD

we discussed it when I was on my last dyno appointment... however we are already this far with the tune, and sooooo close, with the exception of what we believe is the MAF maxin out....
If we go to the 2bar, or speed density tune, it will be starting from scratch.....
Just hoping simple purchase of the masager will cure my cars WOES and we can call it a day....

Mine, 95 was supercharged, Stock MAF, 2 bar, Stock PCM, 648 RWHP/612 TQ on Pump Gas, 722 RWHP/713 TQ on the High Octane...
PoPo, Did he recalibrate the MAF?? I cant see it maxing out on an N/A motor..

Ok, I have spent some time today speaking with both of my tuners....
One says 400 bucks and an entirely new tune and he will do the 2 bar.... he also said the MAF masager is ok as well but not as good.
The other tuner said he will tune me for free if I get the masager.......
I think option B is the way I will go for now....
here is what I found, please give me some input peops.... please.....

PoPo, a maf massager is only used when you have no tuning software, all it does is change out the frequency of the maf, If you have someone tuning for you then he "Should" know that this is not needed because this can be done in the tune....

X2, definitely. Didnt see this thread until today :(
Yeah that box you have there only "translates" the signal, that shouldent help you at all with the tuning.

Just go get a stock MAF for 125 at any auto parts store. I highly doubt your maxing the maf, but possibly the electronics of the Granitelli wont support your ride at this level. EVERY TUNER I HAVE EVER SPOKEN WITH SAYS THE GRANITELLI IS ONLY GOOD ON A BOLT ON CAR AND MAKES TUNING A NIGHTMARE ON A MODDED CAR. Ditch that thing asap.
Sorry about the caps lock didnt notice it was on.

Well prior to the Granatelli, I was maxing the stock one (back with the parish motor) thats why I purchased the granatelli. I understand that swiching to the 2 bar set up is the way to make all the adjustments without the add-on translator.
HOWEVER
What I want to know is , instead of me paying 400 for an entirly new tune right now, will the translator or masager (assuming they are the same thing) allow my FREE tuner the ability to tune the last 1000 rpm that I cant tune right now.....?

Bottom line..NO it will not help. If he has re calibrated the maf and adjusted all fueling parameters and still cannot get you into the desired A/F ratio then your injectors must be too small, but I'm not convinced that the tuner is properly calibrating all parameters....Can you send me your file,or pcm, I can take a look at it if you like and can tell you if all areas are adjusted accordingly....
