Ok so I have just recently purchased a 96z28. Car needed a full tuneup which I did already. Car ran a little better and when I give it gas it climbs a lot smoother. Problem is that I keep getting code p122 which is TSP low voltage. I have checked the wires and all the grounds and have found nothing wrong. Tried to check the volts and I am very retarded when it comes to that. Car also backfires when I give it a quick rev and when the rpm's climb down. Also I have water coming out of my exhaust which is wierd!!!
Another problem is that my cig/acc keeps blowing the 25w fuses so I had to put a 40 in, also weird didnt do that when I first got it. Windows wont roll down or even try for that matter. Checked all fuses and even changed the 30w 12v for the windows. I need help or I feel like when I get back I will most likely sell it and find another.:censored::censored::censored:

i am guessing you meant TPS or throttle position sensor
so did you check the voltage or not?, it may just need to be adjusted or it man not be working at all
what are you using to scan it with?
basically the code sets when the closed throttle TPS voltage is below 0.20V. You need to test the operation of the TPS, meauring the voltage between the blue wire and the black wire with the throttle closed (0.20-0.90V), rotate the throttle open slowly watching for a smooth voltage increase, and then at full throttle, should read about 4.0V higher than the closed throttle position. Also check to make sure you are getting 5.0V between the gray wire and the black wire at all times (key on).
also please put some information about your car and any mods done to it in your sig so that we know what we are talking about

im not much help but i will say that the answer to the acc cig blowing fuses isnt a bigger fuse.that 25 was meant to blow before something burned up...so now that it has a 40 in it what will go first?

i concur

i do as well, i got so wrapped up in the tps i forgot all about this
i would highly suggest you take that fuse out of there, you will end up burning something up like that, and it could even end up catching on fire - worst case scenario
the fuse is designed as the weakest part of the circuit, so that it will burn before the harness or the part will, by putting a bigger amp fuse in there you are making the fuse stronger than the circuit

yah I took the fuse out I just needed it to see if my scanner was getting any different codes since the p122 was the code I got a month ago when I worked on it. So when I check the voltage on the tps I just turn the key on and stick the probes in the plug? The TPS is new so I know its not that considering I was getting the code before I put the new one on. Anybody know what the water is coming from? :(:hmm:

Oh and as for the signature, I just have a stock 96z with a t56 with 70k on the clock.

You need to slightly peel back the insulation on the light blue wire (keep the pigtail plugged in to the sensor). Put the positive lead of the multimeter on the blue wire and the negative lead to ground. With the key on, engine off, you should have between .2 and .9v like mentioned earlier in the thread.

dont tell me, put it in your signature
the water is probably just condensation build up, nothing i would worry about
yeah key on engine off and go through the test procedure i posted and let us know what you come up with

ok I will try this tomorrow afternoon. I got one of those cheapo testers, Hopfully I can click it on what will pick up some voltage lol Thanks

So im deployed right now and im gonna be home soon to try and figure this problem out once again. Any way that this would be a problem from a bad opti?
