Here's a pic of the pass.side SFC I finished last weekend, the second one is half built. Nice thing was I had all the metal kicking around the shop and it didn't cost me anything....other than time. Also picked up a poly kit.

That dont look bad at all! Did you borrow a set to make a template or just measure and go at it?

I looked at what was available, borrowed the ideas and started measuring and cutting.

I finished up the sub frame connectors. Next I started building an adjustable panhard bar. The spreader on the PB I got from Dad, it came from a pile of air force surplus parts he collected. It took a bit of lathe work to fit it all up. So far, other than $10 worth of paint I had all the parts kicking around my garage.....free entertainment that pays off in the end, works for me.

Are those more effective then the single tube subframe connectors? Nice work! I want to do something like this, i'd just have to figure out all the line ups before i started to weld. What kind of steel is that? just any old like fence post type deal?

The design came from researching what was being sold by the pro's, and it made sense to me to include the cross braces. I found it easier to build it on the car, first the main support, then the centre/cross brace mounts. Cut and tacked the triangles while the pieces were on the car....if that make sense. Pulled it off and welded it up solid (flux core mig). The floor pan curves, exhaust pipe, other obstacles will dictate where you can put the cross braces. The main support is a thick wall (3/16" I believe) 1 3/4" square tube. Hope that helps, if you have more questions or want more pics, let me know.

if you want to run a stock type exhaust and a stock trans mount/torque arm mount,,,the double diamond setup is a great choice..very nice work..i really like that PB

Thanks, and when I want to change from stock stuff....it ain't nothing a cut off wheel and a little more welding won't fix. The PB is painted, new poly bushings and on the car. The rear was off centre by 1/2", not any more.

I have to get the car through an "out of Province" inspection and wasn't planning to weld them on till after completed. I will post a pic once that happens, hopefully soon!

Finally got them welded on. Everything fit up nicely, main bar is hidden, only about 3/4" of the rear cross brace (at the bend) is visable. And YES they make a great improvement car feels a lot more solid with a few less squeaks and rattles. I'll eventually add more welds, but they are plenty solid for now.

FYI, I've been told if your building a PB to put the adjuster closer to one end, less likely to break/bend. Mine has a solid bar running 2"-3" inside the pipe, no bending yet.

I've also added front and rear Spohn's LCA's (Del sphere pivot) and rear relocation brackets. Didn't notice much difference with the front, but a definate difference with how the rear plants when cornering.

Good work. I plan on making a new set of SFC's as my Granatelli SFC's are rusted pretty good on the ends (9 years old!). I really enjoy fabbing up my own stuff when I can. So far I have done LCA relocation brackets, lower shock mounts for the rear, seat mount brackets, and a seat brace to tie to the roll bar.
