I bought a used custom setup off a guy in my area. It consists of Spohn Tubular SFC with a custom made torque arm setup with a chasis mount tied into the SFC. The setup works great for planting the tires and doesnt have too much noise coming out of it. My only problem is going over speed bumps the tunnel cross bar scrapes speed bumps. Car has newer stock springs in it so its pretty much stock height. Is this a common issue for the UMI, BMR, and Spohn tunnel mount torque arms with them scraping? Its tied into the SFC so its it stiff and not going to hurt anything it just makes me cringe everytime i have to go over big bumps.

Here's the setup pics off the setup...

My buddy had a Spohn and sold it to another friend of mine for this very same problem.

Its only a weekend warrior so i dont drive it much but just wanted some feedback as i know when i was in the car it came off of it didnt scrape as much or hard as it does on mine which is why i bought it. Im going to try and clearance the bar a little bit more hoping it will be better untill i find something else to replace it down the road. Just need some tires to help it hook!

my umi will scrape on large speed bumps, but like yours mine is a weekend ride. so i just try to avoid the large bumps normally in apartment complexes around here.

I have an UMI setup with the dip for the exhaust in the tunnel mount. It hits on speed bumps all the time as well ... at least when I go over them. I'm going to rebuild it so the dip will not be in it anymore. I checked with UMI to get a replacement mount without the exhaust clearance, but it would cost over $300 (IIRC). Rather just rebuild the one I've got with some square tubing and cutting the one up I have to reuse the mounts and such. Anyway, the only time it really drags on me is when I don't see the speed bump, because I usually avoid them at all costs. I was going through a newly paved parking lot a couple of months ago and took a huge divot out of a speed bump because I didn't see it until the front wheels were already over it. A lot of people commented on how loud it was when I hit it ... no, not the car, but me yelling at the top of my lungs! ARGH!

Actually we sell them for $154.99 with out the loop and $184.99 with the loop, this would be the straight design with out the dip in it. In case you decide not to build your own this is an option.

Hope that helps,
Ryan

This is just the replacement for the dipped one, red powdercoated, ready to roll? Just replace and go? Let me know. I'll put it on my wish list.
