Hi, I'm Scotty

I'm 25 from MN. Kinda stumbled over here after reading on LS1tech for a while. I like what I see here so I signed up hoping to learn some stuff.

Anyways, last October I purchased a 88 RX-7 with a mainly stock 95 LT1/T56. Pretty much just has a cc306 and mail order tune, some shorty headers and a 125 shot. I've had alot of fun with it, but shortly after taking it out of hibernation this spring, I gained some bottom end knock. I'm new to these engines, but I kinda set myself on just doing a budget build to get it back on the road, and maybe get a little extra grunt from it. Over the winter I picked up a set of TPiS/AFR heads, some long tube headers, and the c.a.t.s. tuner. I'll have to tear it down soon to see how bad things are and what I can salvage and that will decide my next step. Like I said this is a budget build, so if I can keep it stock I will. If the crank and rods are worn, I guess its upgrade time.

I hope to learn more about what I'm doing by reading alot here. I've come from turbo 4 poppers, this torque thing has me hooked.

Yeah, it's pretty fun. The previous owner ran a 12.26@121 and made 445rwhp/448rwtq on the 125 shot.

With a good tire that thing should be doing way better than 12.20's. Looks like a nifty car. Congrats on the purchase!

I know there's alot more in her. It's on the heavier side of these models, as it was a loaded turbo car and sits at just over 2900 lbs. That was done on a set of 245/45/16 drag radials on some Grand Prix rims. I'm afraid if I put a real sticky tire on it I'll break the stock rear end, it's already not the original one. Eventually I wanna do a Cobra diff or maybe an 8.8. I don't want to make it a strict track car though, it's fun to cruise and still gets good gas mileage. I want to also figure out to add cruise(the car itself has all the controls) for longer trips. It's a comfy car, but after 3 hours on the road my right leg starts to fall asleep.

That would be cool but I'm probably gonna be pretty busy this summer. I wanna hit up SevensNotStock and I'm also taking it down to NC to hit up the Tail of Dragon with my old turbo Saturn buds. That is if I can get my engine all fixed up and have enough extra cash to spare.

popo, lovin the car. I got a huge soft spot for a white and black car, my last one I built up was white with carbon fiber. Funny how I told myself I would never own a black car, this is my first.
