so yesterday I was loading this tune that i have been working on and i always start the download and close the laptop and just let it do its thing. well as soon as i close it the goes into stand by mode and interrupts the loading of the tune. now i cant get it to connect to the PCM. I tried the PCM recovery tool and just trying to reset the PCM by disconecting the battery for 20 min and it still is all bad. so im thinking i need a new PCM. how do i find one? will any lt1 pcm work? ive never had to change one before so if you have any info that would be great.

Um, your OBD II so any 96+ LT1 PCM will work, even if it's from a B-body.
I'm actually on a hunt for a second PCM myself.

yes OBD2 pcm is what you have, i would try looking on ebay for one. if not go to your local junk yard and tell them exactly what you are looking for. they can put the info into their system and then search all junk yards in a resonable surrounding, the system will also check for all compadable pcms, TA,camaro, impy ect ect..... really takes car of alot of leg work for you. good luck i hope you find one!

When we first cooked my original one, I just went to the dealership with the car on a trailer, bribed a tech 50 bucks to do it now.... and bought one.

If I remember right, before the bribe mine cost about 200 bucks. And Im not sure what they do when they are new, but it needed to be programed, or flashed or something. All I know is he wanted my car to do it so that he could put the vin in it....
