I got a speeding ticket tonight.. That I dont think was accurate.
I was driving dow the highway (55 zone) and there was a ford explorer directly behind me. A police officer was in the fast/passing lane, and I was in the middle. The cop drives up, puts his sirens on, and I signal and pull over, quickly turn the car off (I have aftermarket exhaust, so I didnt want him to hear anymore than he has to) and get my license, insurance, and registration out.
The police officer comes up and says "Do you know why I pulled you over?"... And I said "No sir"... "You were going 72 in a 55".
Heres my questions... How did he know I was going 72?
The police officer also made a mistake on the ticket. Nothing major, but he changed the date of appearance on the ticket. I've heard people say you can get out of the ticket if they make a mistake.
Overall, the police officer was pretty cool.. He could have got me for aftermarket exhaust, no front plate, and window tint.
Heres where the police officer made a mistake on the ticket (changed the date and time of when I'm supposed to appear in court)

Need some help! What should I do? I dont want/cant afford more points on my license!

he has to show you the radar to prove how fast you where going and in sure he didnt. so in saying that go to court, now you have 3 things on your side #1 the cop must be present or the ticket is throwin out, #2 he shows, denie the fact you where speeding and the cop never showed you the radar to prove it, #3 if all else fails and you do show up to court and dont just pay out they will probely reduse the fine because you showed up.

Ok, lets start here... I can tell you that in PA we are not OBLIGATED to show you the speed timing device... if we chose to it is a courtosey.
Pacing a vehicle with a certified speedometer is an acceptable means of catching speeders.
THe one thing you have on your side is that the cop must show up to court... thats it.
If he shows certification that the speedometer was calibrated and testifies as to the speed that you were "clocked" thats all he has to prove...
Now... in PA to pace a vehicle it must be no less than 5/10 of a mile, Im not sure how it is where you live.
If you are worried about the ramifications to your license and insurance, consult with an attorney who specializes in traffic violations

Oh yeah, and as for making the mistake on the citation... in PA we do not set up hearing dates the DJ does when you plead NOT GUILTY to a citation so I have no experience with that.. however the rule is, we can make mistakes on a citation, altho the mistake cannot keep you from being able to defend yourself in court.... example: if I pull you over and cite you but the vehicle code section I enter is wrong, you cannot do the research to feasibly represent yourself and defend yourself in court

unfortunatly let me speak from way to much experience,,if you go to court with a clean record the a.d.a. will likely reduce to a 9 over 64in55,,if you shell out prob 250-300 for a decent attorney then with a clean record he can most likely get it down as far as improper equipment or worst case an unsafe movement which is 1 point, keep in mind you still have to pay court cost and any fines on top of attorney fee..
if this is a first offense you can always beg for a prayer for judgement,,its kind of a 1 time get out of trouble card
damn it mike you just got back into a fast car and look at you,,:shame::shiner::D
not sure how court works where you guys are but here traffic court is seperate and theres not even a judge,,just a assistant district attorney and a table and its first come first serve,so many traffic cases it was clogging up the criminal cases,no officers are present so dont rely on the "if the cop doesnt show up' defense
i actually just had 2 big tickets in 2 months, 87 in 55,careless&reckless,and tint was one and the other believe it or not was 69 in 55 work zone in my yukon.got a lawyer for the first cost me 480 bucks got out squeeky clean, second one i got guages fixed under a recall and got it dismissed..i wont go into the other 15:secret:
