what do you guys use for this? ive seen some people tape off the fenders and what not with electrical tape so they can just peel it off afterwards and dispose of it. i have 4 nice new tires to smoke up this fall before the car goes into storage and i would like to know what to use to clean up or prepare for some crazy burnouts

yeah I'd like to know too because my hands look like they got dipped in black goo after I get done scraping it off, and its a killer to scrub that stuff out from under your nails :(

I've heard spray the rear quarter with pam cooking spray, and I've heard spray it with a quick detailer type spray. Seems like either would work well.

I never bothered with either. I usually cleaned mine before track nights, and just rubbed it off before it got too much dirt in it.

Elbow Grease!

On a serious note, I think they sell stuff specifically for that at like Autozone. I think they even sell stuff that you can coat your wheelwell with after cleaning so the rubber wont stick next time.

Turtle Wax makes this stuff called "Bug and Tar Remover". I swear by that stuff. You spray it on, let it sit for a few seconds, then wipe it off. It takes off all the rubber very easily, and gets the job done a lot faster.

Theres a white C5 Vette that I sometimes clean up that races at Watkins Glenn. Its white, and theres usually rubber everywhere on the car. I use the bug and tar remover on it and it makes the job much easier to do. I'll take some before and after pictures next time I see it and show you how well this stuff works. It still requires some work, but just makes the job much easier to do.

Just another example.. This is another vette that is a "track car" at Watkins Glenn:

AFTER: (also waxed it)

Thats just an example of what it does with the bugs, but it works awesome on the "Tar" too. The yellow vette I posted up in the appearance and detailing section had rubber all over the back of it, so after I washed it I sprayed some of that on it too, and it takes the rubber right off very easily.

Its like $6 a bottle, and you can get them at auto zone, pep boys, advanced auto, or other part stores. I'd definately reccomend it.

I just wipe off the chunks then use mother's showtime quick detailer. Works great!!!!

yeah ill have to find something to spray it with, and ill probably use that bug and tar remover and a rag afterwards

the thing is, its not exactly track burnouts, its going to be massive smoke brand new tires until their bald burnouts...so there will be alot of rubber splattered everywhere.

Do what I said, way easier than bug and tar remover
