Right now I'm currently running stock shocks/struts and springs. I just installed LCA relocation brackets for more traction on launches and just got MT et streets for the strip. I'm trying to decide on a shock strut setup but I'm confused on what would be the best? Are coil over setups better for the strip? or are the adjustable gas shocks that you can find from a few different brands? And also if you go with a front coil over setup do you go with a rear coil over also? Then how to springs come into play? I just need a little help understanding what the different setups are best used for. Thanks.

First off, springs and shocks will be probably one of the biggest influence on improving your drag times. Coilovers (from my understanding) are simply "adjustable". Just because you have them on the front, does not mean you have to put them on the back. A lot of people like them because they can continue to adjust them until they are set at a setting that yeilds the best results for what the individual is trying for. One thing to keep in mind, is that with coilovers, every adjustment you make, afterwards you will need a new alignment. If you plan on making a lot of adjustments, you'd better make friends with your local suspension shop for all the different alignments that go hand in hand with the adjustments.

Drag springs really add to the shocks, and also make a HUGE difference on traction.

If you are running the stock suspension (shocks and springs at least) then you are limiting yourself on launching at the track considerably.

More suspension items to consider would be subframe connectors (tightening and strengthening the frame of your car). A must if you have a T-top car. LCA's help some with wheel hop and traction, but will help more with the shocks and springs upgrade. Upper and lower aftermarket A-arms also will make a huge difference for the track, as well as a tubular K-member (drops a ton of weight off your front end). Some guys will yank out their front sway bar also taking more weight off the front end (I don't really reccomend doing this if you drive your car on the street). A good torque arm also will help with the transfer of weight, and a panhard bar will make things more stable.

Strut tower braces won't do anything for the drag strip, and they barely do anything for cornering (but I can tell a slight difference).

Thats about the full run-down on suspension upgrades for the 1/4 mile. Like everything else, a lot of money can be spent here, but a lot of time can be saved at the track without actually adding any more power to your car either. I have upgraded all the listed things above in my car, and I can dead hook in my LT1 in my sig with 614 RWHP in 1st gear on the street with drag radials. I have beaten cars that have more than 150 RWHP more than me just because I can hook up while they are spinning. Traction is a huge deal when it comes to drag racing, and it is all had with your suspension.
