View Full Version : Well went to the track thrusday for the 1st time ever.

i had a ok time but had a lot of issues out there too, i wasn't expecting anything special was hoping for at least a high 12 but im very confidant i can get it next time. The car ended up over heating right after my 4th pass may have overheated on my 4th not sure didnt pay attention just shut it off. when a buddy was about to take it for a 5th pass to see if he could do better he noticed the gauge pinned at 260. there was no water/dex cool in it so i may have found a head gasket problem. Also on the 3rd pass the clutch got hot on me an wouldn't grab so aborted it. With the 1st 2 passes i left the cold air intake set up on ive noiced that when i do my elbow (which is rubber) gets sucked completely flat at 5200 rpms. found that out after it dynod 311 and then 306 and 299 and the power was dropping off a cliff at 5200rpms. once i took the cold air intake off the maf an left the maf open i noticed a big diff. well here's the time slip numbers and all the passes were on street tires that are almost bald. i was waiting for green then rolling it out at idle then hammering it 10 bolt scares me car was at full weight with junk in it woke up at 4pm left for the track at 5pm had a long night before lol.

What happened on the third pass? lol. Got a lot of room to improve on your 60' which should bring your ET down quite a bit.

lol i said in the description all the problems i was having out there, but the clutch got hot on my 3rd pass so i took it easy an let it cool for 15 mins. im afraid to improve on my 60' that would mean launching the car at a certain rpm instead of rolling it out at idle. the 10 bolt scares the shit outta me.

not bad paul. I know you can get it better next time. Need to get some better tires and a nice clutch set and a good tune. but thats not bad being your first time out there with it! it will get better!

lol well yea that too, but i was talking about the lt cars in this town getting together an having a night at the test an tune local. there's actually a lot of lt1 cars in this town i realized.

really??? i def can pick up the mph a good bit too, just need to get a new shifter (stock one is crazy u can move the shifter in the whole shift pattern while its in gear) and work on my shifting an launch the car and get used to the tree.

where the hell did you go where you got 4 passes in just over a half hour with a 15 min break? Hell I'm lucky if I can get 4 passes in 4 hours at speed world. That car has a hell of a lot more in it. Just don't be stupid and put slicks on and your 10 bolt should be ok, mine has had a LOT of beating on, but only with street tires, and so far (runs and finds wood to knock on) the only noises it makes is a little whine from being richmonds. Give it a little more practive and you should have high 12's easy on good street tires.

thanks ya come to find out now that the motor is open an laying on the ground it truly had A LOT of problems. So im very sure next time out my 1st pass will crack a 12 on street tires. The track was bradention motor sports park, exit 220 off I75. I could ran like that all night except i ran into issues an then it started to sprinkle rain. the 4.10s will go in when a motor goes back in it and a tune, then ill see what its got.

Why even go to the track if you aren't going to launch your car? Those street tires won't hook well enough to do anything to your rear end.

Not bad for your first time ever! Get your issues worked out and work on that 60 ft time and you will get your 12.
