I just wanted to throw up a thread showing this bracket because I found very little info on it when I was searching. I got mine from an ebay store (alterstart?), but it came with Alan Grove instructions, and they use Alan Grove pics in the auction.

Alan Grove Components low mount Alternator
Comes in bare metal, with all hardware (no belt)
It does in fact take a corvette balancer mounted to a camaro (or I guess corvette) hub.
It also uses an early '90s S-10 alternator (same plug as LT1). The alternator itself is lighter and smaller. Yes, rated at less amps. You can get a high output one if you really wanted... but IMO... MANY vehicles get along just fine with the lower output alternator, so I don't think it should be an issue.

The instructions came with a part # for a Dayco belt... but something cross referenced wrong... cause it didn't work (just a hair too short)...
here's what I got....

Gates brand belt
K060331
6PK841
33 3/4"
856mm
I had a 34in belt, which when stretched A LOT with a massive pry bar would bottom out the swing of the alt bracket. I figure the 33 3/4 should be as long as possible, without bottoming out the bracket, and yet leaving the most room possible for the plug wires.
My truck never had LT1 A/C... just the 1LE delete pulley. The frame was clearanced for that pulley.

pics at full "out" swing.

Very nice, the simplicity must be great.

I also considered the madman one... but they wouldn't say whether it would clear the frame on an LT1 S-10. Understandable... cause it's a custom swap. BUT, I did find someone who said the Alan Grove would definitely work... so I went with it. Don't remember the madman price, but this one was ~$60.

Simplicity is nice.
Hoping to clean all the extra stuff out of the engine bay (abs, computer, smaller overflow tank, etc)... I want to pop the hood and see an engine, and two empty fender wells. It also made hiding the big wires easier... my power comes from the bed... is tucked under the headers to the starter, and then the other wire comes from the starter to alt. (low enough, you'd have to look for it). Comes from hanging out with show trucks :D

Also, hoping it'll rev like a bat outa hell :metal: Should be pretty snappy as is.... later on... maybe I'll go with a lighter/smaller balancer too (assuming no charging problems as is)

I may go to an overdrive pulley on the alt if it gives me problems.

Yeah seeing something that clean makes me want to do it, and at $60.00 thats a steal. Ive deleted most stuff (AIR/EGR/AC/extra BS) to clean it up/save what weight I can and I do like seeing an engine. :D

So you have no power steering with this setup?

Why did the pully have to be changed to the 'vette?

They designed the bracket to be spaced that way.The vette pulley sits further forward... giving the alternator a little more room by the block and headers. I'd have to give it a second look to see if it was necessary for their design, of if they just picked one spacing and went with it.
One reason is that the plate mounts to the water pump. In order for them to move the alternator back to match the F-body spacing, they would have needed to space it away from the plate. As is... the back of the alternator sits about even with the front of the heads/block.

You are looking at the entire bracket... there is no where to mount a power steering pump.
Alan Grove makes several LT1 setups (none are specifically designed for any one vehicle as far as I know)... or there is a vendor on here that sells one that will hold a power steering pump.
