I've had my 97 SS since July '03, bought it from a young couple in suburban Chicago. The wife drove it, and she was a school teacher! When she got pregnant they had to sell it and get a van... They took great care of it, and the car was bone stock.
The car had 38k on it when I bought it. I've done quite a bit over the years to it, mostly suspension goodies, and I added the SLP shorties, random tech y-pipe and 4:10 gears. I've installed everything except for the rear end gears. The car now has 50k miles on it. I've thought about selling it and buying an LS1 car but I need some LT1 guys to tell me why I shouldn't....
Looking forward to browzing some of the forums.

Definitly keep the car. You'll regret it instantly if you sell it.
Welcome. Where at in Northern Illinois?

My wife wants a damn auto, and I don't want her to drive my 6 speed because she's too nervous about driving a stick. My car is a blast to drive, and it has decent power. I've never had it to the track. And yes I probably would be pissed if I saw it drive down the road. I've had some nice cars, BB Chevelle's, El Camino's etc that I had to sell due to having kids etc. I'm 51 now and
living pretty good. We live in Harvard, about an hour west of Chicago.
I would like to add a cam, different headers (Lt's), electric water pump and an LS1 coil pack assy this spring. I need to browze the forums here to see what is the best combo out there. And I need to see if there's any LTX clubs in the area..
A few more pics..

She had a 99 Z28 but we had to sell it in the fall of '08; it was a very fun car! Here's a pic of both cars....

Thanks! What are you doing to yours (currently under the knife)??
I'm not sure if adding cam/heads etc to mine is the right thing to do since it's such a rare car....

In the process of swapping the shortys out for Pacesetter Longtubes. Should have a video clip here in a week or so. I haven't decided if I want to do a cam swap then pull the engine later and replace the rings/port the heads or if I just want to wait and pick up a spare block and make a solid H/C 355 and keep my old motor.
