Stock, I wouldn't even have the red top if my original battery wouldn't have taken a shit.

DAMN Adam!! :face_shocked: That looks awesome! Any more shots? :hail:
Thank you very much. I'm not trying to sound big headed but that engine bay is nothing compared to what I'm about to build. That shot is from about a year ago. And the motor is out of the car right now getting machined for .030 over forged bottom end and le heads and cam. Just wait and see my new build this winter. Here is another shot

Adam, is that the new PS bracket I see? How do you like it?
EDIT : Actually looks more like an Alt relocation now that I look at it...

It's an alternator relocation bracket i picked up from Michigan speed. It's been discontinued though. It keeps everything the alt, ps, ac.

That looks nice Adam! It will interesting to see the new setup.
I would post mine, but it is not an LTx. :secret:
LS Brothers are welcome here! We wont turn anyone away, just the same as ls1tech didn't turn us away! Shit, I made a living on ls1tech, and I don't even own 1 car with an ls1 or any lsx for that matter.

Ain't that the truth. Try working on simple stuff, like spark plugs. If you don't have headers is next to impossible.

Nice job BLK95TA ^
thanks, its actually changed more in the last 6 months than it did in the first 4 years, lol... first i added the ram air and hood and then when i needed to get the intake manifold gasket changed i decided to get the intake painted with that high temp autozone paint (primer, base black, and clear) and i like how it turned out.. thanks to Jpack (on ls1tech and nifba.com) and bad azz 97ta (on nifba.com) for doing the work.

thanks guys........ painting the underhood is the first part of having a nice engine bay... These things are painted pretty shitty from the factory. I knew we were going to do a lot of anodized aluminum so I wanted to go with flat black... I actually used a high temp satin... not exactly flat but definitely not gloss....
when your motor is out the next time take a few days to clean the hell out of it and paint it from the ground up. You won't be disappointed if you take your time...

here is mine so far. its still a work in progress. im in the middle of an ls1 lid intall and redoing all the wires, lines ect under the hood. so far the inner fender wells were welded and smoothed. the fuel lines were rerouted along with the passenger side harness. the engine electrics are all hooked up and ready to go. just need to attach the brake booster vacume line and the passneger side valve cover to tb line.
the upper radiator support is far from done but its far enough along that its in there and holding the radiator and fans in place.
i still need to redo all the brake lines and pull all the accesories and their mount bracket off and fab up a custom one to put everything down low and out of sight.

Most of ya'll make me feel like my engine is dirty... I've been working on it off and on since I got the car. It's going to be a long process but since I've quit smoking I don't have a lot better to do. Here's what she looks like. She's got the driver side almost cleaned and I'll probably pull off the stuff and re-paint it... Sucks haveing a white car though... Is there any reason I need to keep that black fire retadant thingy? I can't stand it....

Cleaner than most ive seen. I've detailed my engine bay a handful of times.. only reason why my engine bay doesn't look good is because anytime i drive in rain, water sneaks up under tiny gaps in my hood and gets the whole bay looking gross.. bleh.

It's made just for the B-Bodies. It's called the RAISS Ram Air Intake, Impala Performance makes them. They cost a LOT though for something that's just sheet metal welded together, and a tiny throttlebody boot..

Just as suspected. It's amazing how dirty things get when you use them on a daily basis.
I am confident you would try, but you'd be amazed at the amount of effort it would take to keep it THAT clean if you drove it everyday.
It goes back to my previous post about never seeing anything that clean unless it didn't get driven much.
Don't think I am putting you or your car down here please, because your car looks amazing (point in fact, I'd love it if my Z were EVER that clean under the hood).
AChotrod
03-15-2010, 09:58 PM
I hear ya! With that said all my other F-bod DDs were not far off this. Some were winter driven then pressure washed down at least once a week. Even my 120k jeep looks pretty good.
None would ever look like this though. You have to pull the motor to do it and clean everything.

Just finished tucking wires, moving the battery to the truck, installing a new coolant overflow tank, power steering reservoir (fits perfect in the AC dryer mount) and switching to an LS1 lid setup. This picture was taken before installing the Speed Inc alternator relocation kit.

Since I got a nice compliment on FB that it looked like it just rolled off the show room floor, I thought I'd share some pics of my super clean bone stock engine bay before I get around to modifying anything:

Haha dancing with the devil, apparently. Three walmart bags over the alternator, three more rubber banded over the mouth of the throttle body, and then wrapped up the loose plugs from the MAF and airbox. Hit it with a couple cans of engine degreaser and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Then I busted out the pressure washer and used the wide flat spray nozzle. I just made sure not to spray directly down toward the opti and used an air compressor to dry everything off. Once dry, I used a can of engine shine on it to get everything nice and purdy. :D Then I left it alone for a few hours to let it finish drying out before even attempting to turn on the car. Did the same thing to the Corvette and it came out just as gorgeous lol.

Yeah, don't be afraid to spray down the engine, just be careful to not spray directly at the opti and you should be fine. For good cautious measure, leave it sitting out in the sun for at least a few hours drying (overnight if you really wanna be paranoid lol). It'll be fine. ;)

haha mines going to talk ALOT more than that. I have to re-run some wires, want to relocated the fuel lines. need a few parts and a lot of paint haha. I did see one Idea that i liked. I might give it a shot when I have some money for it and will obviously paint them instead of leaving them black.

Probably not at the moment, but damn, that glossy shine is tempting. I have to drown my shit in engine shine to get it to look like that, yours looks like simply beautiful paint
