Hey guys, so i bought a set of headers and Y pipe for pretty cheap. I have a 97 Formula, and i bought Pacesetter mid tubes for a 94-95. So my question is what exactly would i need to do to make these work, just a custom Y pipe and o2 sims/tune? would it be worth it, or should i just flip them and get a set actually for my car (i am in cali and the whole point of mid tubes is to be able to pass smog and these wont allow me to run the 2 cat setup required) Thanks for the help and advice guys!!

The only difference in the 94-95 and 96-97 headers is that the later ones were set up for a dual cat y-pipe. The 94-95 set you bought should have come with a Y-Pipe, and if so, you're already set. Just grab some sims and you're off and running.

If you want to run dual y pipe and SMOG is a PITA in Cali, I'd pick up a set for the 96-97. It'll just come down to how picky your emissions are. If I were in your position, I'd just run a 93-95 y-pipe but I don't have emissions where I live.

ya i was thinking about it last night before i went to sleep, and it didnt make sense that i had to get a custom y pipe heheh... i guess i will just get a tune instead of the sims. if i have the car running without the post-cat o2 sensor for a couple days will it run in limp mode?

There's no such thing as "Limp" mode fyi. What you'll probably end up with after a short time is a SES light being on for the Rear O2's Heater Circuit or Catalyst Inefficiency, but it won't cause any driveability issues.

I thought there was a limp mode. Like when your o2s are bad or maf. My car would run horrible with bad o2s and then when the car would figure out what was going on, it would throw a code and then run better, but not perfect.

STL = emissions testing = failor you could move 15 miles west and lose your front plate as well :)

It's not really limp mode. With the case of the O2's, it was simply reverting to open loop and ignoring the O2's. With the MAF, it simply reverts back to the VE tables only and discounts the MAF, though you have to unplug the maf for that to happen.
Limp mode (to me at least) is where you have the newer cars with a possible engine damaging condition that the computer recognizes and actually shuts down cylinders via ignition or fueling to keep the car from overheating, ect and giving you a very short range driving capability to get it to a service facility. THAT is limp mode. The computer using a different logic for it's fueling calculations isn't. Just my $.02

OR just not run one and pay a lot less in taxes :cool:Or you could be cool like me and stay the fuck out of Missouri. God I hate Missouri. I drove to Raymore to pick up a Intake gasket from James and I wanted to punch every driver on the road coming home. And his residental was all tore up. I would've died if I was driving the Camaro.

im gonna have to butt back in and say California roads are the worst i have ever seen, and i have been to many states! CAL TRANS can all end themselves for all i care. In fact American roads in general suck. Its funny that people try to outbid each other by doing work as cheap as possible. Cheap = less time spent/worse materials/shittier in general. In other countries (see autobahn) you dont see messed up roads, because they dont do stuff cheap. And guess what? it probably saves money in the long run because you dont have to keep fixing stuff that shouldnt be messed up anymore. /rant

Good roads would make too much sense.

Not to mention with good roads you dont have to scrape people off the pavement because they went 150 and hit a bump :D
Everything is much safer when things are constructed right. Again, see last post....
