was wondering what rods are better scat pro comp ibeams #257007 or Eagle sir Esp-5700bblw both are forged rods the scats are rated for a little more horse.
also what would be a good budget piston for the rods. not going to spray nitrous so can i get away with hyperstatic pistons? Im planning on shooting for a reliable
400 RWHP street car any input/ suggestions would be nice

If you can go for a rod that's made from 4340 material vs. the 5140, also try and get the ARP 2000 bolts instead of the 8740's. I believe the Scat's are 4340 material and come with the stronger bolt. Eagles I beams are 5140 steel with ARP 8740 bolts which is stronger than stock and rated to 500Hp, which realistically will suit most street cars. IMO you get a better rod for your $ with the Scat's. Also if your buying pistons anyway for a 355 go with a 6" and get the brushed fit instead of pressed fit. This will not make more power but allow you to have a better wear on the cylinder walls. The brushed fit allows you to upgrade pistons or rods later without the chance damaging the rod or pin. With that being said, I'm sellin a set of .030 over Speed Pro pistons connected to press fit Eagle 5.7" rods if your interested!

I dare to be different. I run the Eagle 6.125 forged with Mahle power pac pistons on stoke stroke crank. Will take a decent shot and keeps the piston @ TDC longer. All light weight and revs really fast. If you want to do some research, this might enlighten you on why I did it. (From Hotrod 1997) Old article but with todays product out there it is all now a easy direct fit. There are a few on here that can attest to my set up and how it runs.

I've used the mahle's on big boost 4 cylinders in the past and had great results. The KB's ive never heard anything good about, and the SRP's are pretty decent for the price imo...

I'm using SRP's with my 385 build, Speed Pro, Mahle, JE are all good brands. I thing for the $ your best bet is gonna be a Mahle power pack cause it comes with rings for about $600.00. Most pistons are made from 4032 high silicone alloy aluminum which has minimal expansion with heat. This reduces "piston slap" on cold start up. Many NO2 guys like the harder 2618 aluminum because it's more durable and forgiving when you have NO2 issues. The problem is it's more of a race orientated piston. It expands about 15% more than the 4032 material which means the gap between the piston and cylinder wall is 15% more on cold start up. This will create a "knock" or "slap" from the engine on cold start up. Once warm both pistons are virtually the same when it comes to stregnth, unless you've got a NO2 tune that's slightly off. Here's whatr I just said from SRP:
