well me and my dad had it out today because i was late, well long story short i told him to find another painter with a license that could actually paint and not make a mess, so he told me he didnt need me and not to worry about coming in anymore. SO basically im in need of 2

if you know of ANY machine shops hiring that pay a descent amount LET ME KNOW WHERE im more than willing to move the hell out of VA,

the next... i started a thread a few months back about me rebuilding T56's for cheaper than most, well its time i start a site and go ahead and start, SO heres the deal im asking ANY of you that need somethnig done to one to take advantage of me, ill pull it down and rebuild it at $200+ parts! YOU WILL NOT FIND ANY ONE CHEAPER! its $75-$100 to ship one way so + labor you will only have $400 in labor and shipping. but one condition, THE FIRST ONE interested has to let me know and be serious because i will have to pay the vendor dues to the site for advertising and I WILL NOT GO AROUND THIS! if you would like anything done contact FastBird first and tell him to forward the PM to me so i can contact you about how to arrange payments.

as for a warranty, i will warrant the labor for a 6 months, and parts will be on a inspection basis, meaning if i screwed up its on me to replace the stuff, and yes you can tell when you messed one of these up. Sean if you have a problem with any of this just LMK but i dont have the $ right off hand to pay dues until i receive the first payment :( and cant afford to invest and not have anyone interested...

im at a loss with life at the current second and dont really know what to do, all im doing today is wasting gas turning in resumes... FML im about to cry

Man that sucks hopefully you and your old man can get past this, im sure it isnt the first argument you guys have been in.

I worked for my family's buissnes for 7 or 8 years. I used to say - the BEST thing about my job is working with family and the WORST thing about my job is working with family. It kind of goes both ways, working for my family was driving a wedge between me and my mom because of silly things like being late so I went into glass, now were all good.

Good luck with everything. I would just wait till everything cools off and go back, it sounds like a good job.

If your looking for Machining Jobs go to www.bucyrus.com and click the Employment link.

Myself and some others work here that are from this fourm.

Machiners get nothing under 22.00/hr Boring bar operator's get paid close to 30.00/hr or more.

Sorry to hear it man.

Do you do work on LS1 T-56's? My 98 Formula in my sigs tranny has never been great, and has gotten worse lately (last 8 months). It grinds most times going into 3rd and 5th, and the only way it will shift into 5th is to go gently from 4th (in other words, I can't go from 6th back to 5th without shifting into 4th first). All that and most times when I am at WOT it grinds or doesn't let me quickly shift when going through the gears. Compared to my bone stock LT1 T-56 that rows through the gears flawlessly, my LS1 is a PITA to drive.

I've been babying it for a while because I am saving up all my extra $ with the wife for a house, and I had planned on putting off the tranny rebuild for later (12+ months). Let me know what you think, and I may be open to figure something out.

Sorry to hear man. It can sometimes be hard working with family members.

Give it a few days to cool down. Appoligise to your father and dont show up late again. ;)

If your late your late. Be glad he only yelled at you, at some places you can be fired for being late.

That sucks I don't think I could mix family and business, that's gotta be tough. Hopefully you guys can work it out after things cool off and you don't have to resort to moving just to get work. Keep your head up and good luck!;)

Hehe, sounds like 2 people didn't get their morning coffee. Sorry to hear it bro. Family can be difficult sometimes. Your dad seemed like a pretty good fella the times I met him. Let it cool down over the weekend, say you're sorry and go back to work on Monday ;). Then try to find something different while you're working.

BTW - most places get po'd if you show up late.

Isnt that what I said... :hmm:In a respect yes, I was just emphasizing that if he shouldn't expect special treatment from his father. I know when I'm late to work I EXPECT to get yelled at my boss and I don't blow up and tell them to find a new employee.

i dont expect special treatment, i just expect to be understood, im not late without an excuse much, i go to class every night until 10-1030 and he expects me to get there around 7 every am so ill have to get up at 6 to get there by 7... its not fun being a student and working full time and he doesnt understand that... i have homework and tests to do every night so that puts me in bed around 12 if i dont do anything i want to do... and this has been almost EVERY day for 2 years i am worn out and i had just had enough, he gets to come home and sleep every nnight after work on the recliner while im in school working just as hard as i do at work as in the machine shop. i just simply can not function off a few minutes of sleep every night. i walk a mile every night to class and a mile back just about, then stand up on hard concrete floors for 5-6 hours at a time, and i have about 15 minutes to eat between class every day... its very stressful, so STFU Eric i dont need another "dad" figure telling me what to expect, so dont talk shit until you know the full situation.

Man I know how it is working and taking classes....I feel for ya. Did it for a long time myself and yeah it will definitely eat your sleep and patience. Any chance pops might let you work part time so you don't get so worn out?

Hang in there you'll get through it!

Working full time through college is pretty common man. I'm not saying its easy (because it aint! Ask me how I know. ;)), but just do what you can handle. I got lucky and dont have professors that assign a ton of homework, but I still work 40+ hours a week and go to school full time. Sometimes its frusterating, but at the end of the day, it makes you appreciate what you're doing more.

Maybe you can work part time at your fathers shop (or anywhere else). Just figure out what you can handle, and go from there.
