correct me if I'm wrong but VE is your injector usage correct? therefore you shouldn't really try to push your injectors past 100% usage..?

ok my car goes lean at 4800 rpm, the maf maxes at 471 gm/sec at like 4200 rpm, ive been trying to give it more fuel by making the ve table like.. 115% at 100 map, and 4800+ rpm... it reverts back to 100 ve every fucking time. so then i tried messing with the maf table, raised the 471 to 50% higher, (707) but it reverts to 512 gm/sec...

how else can i add fuel?

im about to go see how my current changes affected the car... will datalog of course.

i guess that makes sense and clears it up for me, it WAS at 99% at the highest uh.. top right spot, uhm.. 100 map, 99 ve, and whatever the other axis was...

edit: this explains why tuner (we are doing this over txt msgs) was asking my duty cycle where it goes lean....

everything is coming clear now... i have dual intake walbros... wonder if one is crapped out? they are really new too...

guess imma tape my fp gauge to the window and go find out.

yea i was just gonna ask your FP.

yes duty cycle was what I was looking for haha.

It's possible one went bad

Do you have a 93?

cls-chicago

i have a 95.

gregrob

Then why are you using the VE tables for WOT fueling?

I'm assuming when it "goes lean at 4800 rpms" that's at WOT, no?

cls-chicago
03-06-2010, 09:50 AM
yes wot.

i dont know about the ve thing. HONESTLY, the guy tuning my car has absolutely fucking failed to come through properly and im stuck holding my dick doing it myself. what table SHOULD i be using to adjust wot fueling? remember, im using tuner pro if that makes a difference.

you need to adjust the %change to a/f at wot tables......

gregrob

^What he said...

Your VE tables are not used at WOT. They are only used for speed density mode.

The 2 tables you need to alter are (and I have Tunerpro open right in front of me) "%Change to Fuel/Air Ratio Vs Cool. Temp. at WOT" and "%Change to Fuel/Air Ratio Vs. RPM at WOT".

There is a calculation you need to enter to set your target AFR. I can send you a spreadsheet to help with that if you can get me your email.

You can also zero the RPM table and set your AFR based on the coolant temp only to start, then use the RPM table to fine tune it.

I have both and I can say you really should look into getting tunercats, but tunerpro isnt bad. What are all your mods? Post a copy of your tune and a datalog and I'll try to help you all I can.

I know how it feels to try and learn all this stuff at once. Best thing is to take 1 step at a time. If you're committed to tuning it yourself you should really invest in a wideband as well.

ok yea tuner has been emailing me tunes, and the only thing he is changing now is those %change to afr tables, we thought perhaps i had a fuel psi problem, but now that i verified it going from 43 at idle to like... almost 60 at full throttle (boost), its not an issue. the tuner sent me a further updated tune, but i havent installed it yet due to the blower belt being shredded... ugh.

i will say this, at 16psi, i have lean problem up top, at 6 psi (currently due to belt), im seeing lean up top also...

lemme see what i can about getting the datalogs on here..

as you can see in the above datalog, it goes lean uptop. i dont know why? give me a sec i will produce what the past few tuning changes have been...

here we go

What are you datalogging AFR with? It needs to be a wideband that you know is accurate or you're just shooting in the dark

cls-chicago
03-07-2010, 11:11 PM
uh.. innovate lc1 wideband, i tied it into my a/c psi sensor so that i can datalog it in datamaster... thats what the "afr" coloumn is up above.. its just one decmial place off but it matches my gauge perfectly...

Cool.

I didn't realize you were running boost. 16psi is a lot on the stock engine management system.

I dont know what kind of tune your guy has you started out on but if it's not a 2 bar tune I doubt it will ever work. It's just outside the ECM's ability to comprehend what's going on and try to adjust for it.

see i told my tuner i want a 2 bar speed density tune ( i have a 2 bar map sitting in the trunk). he told me he suggests maf... ANYWAYS. as far as i could tell with this current set up it will NEVER get enough fuel due to the maf being maxed.... is this correct?

He suggested MAF because he is obviously not confident in his SD tuning ability.

In all actuality MOST big power FI cars switch to SD. That writeup that gregrob posted I just read and is VERY comprehensive on how to tune in SD and is exactly how my turbo 2 bar tune from Alvin @ pcmforless did it. And when I need to tweak the tune I plan on following that thread as a guide.

The MAF is just too sensitive and intricate to deal with setups like these. It just makes tuning that much more difficult which I find it hilarious your tuner wants to stay that route.

nope, ddm tuning kit, 55w, 6000k bulbs. 53 dollars to my door, i took my stock assemblies, pried the stock bulb out of the lens, cleaned some of the old silicone off and siliconed these new bulbs in place. lol.

meh. really needs projector housings. i mean its MORE than adequete light output... but for higher end looks, it needs to the projector lens.

Looks good bro.

On the tuning subject, I would follow that link I sent you and either build YOURSELF a new tune, or I think you can buy the base tune from that dude for like 20 bucks. Well worth it.

and be careful with that baby til you get her tuned up right!

well good news. i installed my 2 bar map today and had it running 14.5afr within ten minutes.

i cant seem to get ve master to work though... so i did it all by hand in the 2000rpm ve table... didnt even use datalogs, just general idea of the map and what rpm i was able to make it 14 or so afr across the board low map / low rpm. pretty neat..

got it good enough to coast around the block and i must say it drives 1000% better than before, now the afr is MUCH more steady, there is no lean spike on tip in or lean spike as the clutch returns upward.... no more surging and touching 16 afr at low rpm randomly.. gonna change the plugs, the wideband 02 sensor, and the blower belts and carefully see what i can come up with.

Baby steps! And just keep a close eye on it, you'll do fine.
