As some of you know, we have also been looking for an suv for HER to drive during the winter months... something with 4wd, since the sTENCHtra just isnt cutting it in the bad weather.
We drove hundereds of miles and I scoured for hours on the internet searching for something cheap (a winter beater) and the other day at work, I found a 1991 Jeep Cherokee for sale in the township where I work....
Now again its a 1991 and it does have 161,000mi on it (roughly 8500/yr)
It has a custom paintjob on it (a lil ghetto if you ask me) that she likes, even though its not perfect.....
It has the HO 4.0 I6 and it runs and drives great....
Valve cover has got an oil leak and the 17" custom wheels will need tires ASAP.
The guy was asking 2500obo and after taking it to the shop and going over it and checking KBB I saw that in excellent it was worth 2400 and in poor it was worth 1500.
I made him an offer of 1000, and he said he needed to think about it..... called me back 3minutes after leaving his place and said, 1200 will take it....
So we pick it up tomorrow....
The only pic I have for now is a tiny one I zoomed int with my phone to get, but I will put more up......

Now the color is black with prismatic metalic in the clear... looks like a rolling rainbow in the sun...lol

I LOVE MY 99!!!!!! Just make sure she knows 4x4 only help to go forward. My jeep pushes like a bitch in the corners when its icy out. Better tires Im sure would help but none the less she cant just fly around like you would think.

BTW here is a close up of the paint.... laugh away.... but its UNIQUE.
worst part is, someone bedlinnered the roof with some cheezy can stuff, so I got some scraping and sanding ahead of me...

looks like a bass fishing boat ... lol . jeeps are quallity shit and the straight 6 is a great motor . i got a 96 jeep gc with quadratrak (awd) and it is a blast and extremely safe in the most outlandish conditions . durable , comfortable , and evtremely reliable and especially for having 166k on it . i might even trust it to pull a trailer and car ..

Sucks, but bluebottlez is gonna get my gf and the jeep right in after we get it and give it a quick LOF, and go over it one more time......
I just gotta figure out what to do with that ghetto bedlinnered roof....

Just be careful, when my dad had the wrecker service we towed more Jeep Cherokees than any other vehicle lol. No joke, almost every other vehicle was a Jeep Cherokee.

Well we picked it up today before work.....
took it to the shop,
-pulled the dumb mud flaps off
-changed the oil
-put about 15 lbs of air in every tire.
-new wipers all the way around
-new air filter for now till I can find a CAI
-went over all of the fluids
-hooked up a vac line that went no where
-replaced a bunch of the small rubber lines and hoses that were worn out or loose .
-adjusted the entire exhaust (cuz it was hitting the floor on bumps or hard acceleration)
-and filled it up with fuel.... (put the good stuff in it and it cost me 52.00) they left it bone dry.....
We gotta wash it then take some pics and I will get them up...
still need to:
-get tires
-figure out why the ass end sags.
-tint the windows.
-scrape the bed linner off the ROOF
-minor cosmetic touches that will make a big difference
-fix valve cover leak....

well I scrapped some of it off with a razor blace and all I could see is what looks like grey primer.....
I think I may clean it all off, tape it off, and CHASIS BLACK IT with a semigloss

Im just gonna sand mine down use some filler primer and some duplicolor. I tried on section and it looks great. Doubt youll be able to match the custom paint on yours so black would prob look the best.

Well so far we....
Fixed the passenger side wiper that was not moving with the left one.
Changed the oil
Replaced the valve cover gasket
put new wipers on all the way around
This weekend, I will...
Install the remote start and keyless entry
sand all the custom paint off the flares and bedlinner them
MAYBE.... sand and paint the roof....
Next week
-TINT
Soon after that...
figure the cheapest way to lift it.... wondering if they just make lift coils for the front
and the rear leafs are shot, so I may just get leaf packs set up for a nice lil lift
All that will be left...
TIRES for those 17" wheels....

Ok, so , I scraped and re bedlinnered the roof (nicely)
I sanded the fender flares and bedlinnered them for a nice textured look to take away from the ghetto street cruiser look of everything painted in glitter.
I removed the ribbed side moldings and taped off at the belt line, and bedlinnered the lower section of the sides as well as the rear bumper....
new clear markers installed in the front, and bedlinnered the grill.
cut out a sheet of metal from under the plastic cowl to re seal the HVAC vent where water has been making its way into the interior of the jeep (fingers crossed it stays dry)
Replaced the valve cover gasket, and just ordered a seal and oring kit for the oil filter adapter, OP sending unit will be resealed and distributer seal.
here are a few pics so far......

Looking good man .. I have a 91 Jeep Cheroke, the cheapest way to lift it is 2" daystars in the front ($40) and 2" lift blocks on the rear axles.... that is what has been done to mine. I currently run 265/70/15's - Taller and wider than 31x10.5x15's . My Jeep has 255,000 miles and I still beat on it in the woods. Nice pick POPO! Although today I decided to paint mine OD (Olive Drab) green very similar to the old jeeps of the 60's and 70's being as I am ex-army... I have an old 155mm Tank round crate that I plan on mounting up top to house my off roading tools!

I picked up a "BUDGET BOOST" 3" kit off of ebay for 89bucks......
3" spacers up front and and add a leaf for the rear.....

Awesome purchase. Those things will not die.. My water pump took a shit when I had mine and spilled all the coolant out, and I kept driving it for like a month. The stupid thing would not overheat. As long as I was moving, it stayed cool. Almost as if it were air-cooled lol
