Stock strut question. How'd to know if their shot?

Just wondering how I can find out if my front struts are shot?

Do they get loose and rattle around or what?

Just trying to save some money and if there are not gone, then I'll just do the upper ball joints.

you can do a visual inspection and see if the are leaking,if they dont really absorb the bumps and you can feel that its bouncy,also if they squeek

Good then they aren't bad then, yeepie!

Now then hopefully the upper ball joints are just shot, cause when I hit a bump I almost feel a clunk but I dont feel this all the time, just once in awhile...
