Yeah the smart car driver was cut in half....the driver was texting and hit the big truck head on....think he knew what hit him?

wow thats pretty bad. Those cars are death traps. I would rather pay more for gas than ride in literally a sardine can. Those cars should never have been made. If they did their crash test research before releasing that car they would see how unsafe they are in a accident. Yes the driver shouldn't have been texting but if he had been in a bigger car he would have had a chance of surviving.

i seen the rest of the pics on the one site. real disturbing....if he would have been in a bigger/safer, and a real "smart" car, he would have maybe survived. But thats what you get, i guess for trying to save a few dollar on gas, and help the pollution.

no matter what car you drive if you are distracted (they said he was texting) you may die in an accident. THe initial impact hopfully killed this guy, but I have seen people die in much bigger cars. A fellow student in HS died in a a Town Car after plowing into a tree. He had internal injuries and hemmoraged in the hospital hours after the initial impact.

Agreed. The tree huggers buying into those things are idiots. Those things are no better for gas mileage than any other econo box and you look like that much more of a fool driving one of those stupid cars.

I think head-on with a semi in ANY car has more than a significant chance of being fatal.
But yeah, that's brutal, and sad.

there is no back seat in these cars. the driver is 12-16" from the back of the car. You get rearended by anything that has a decent height bumper your are dead also. Your head will be a hood/grill ornament.
I have a friend that has one to tool around town in for her company. She got it when they first came out and had it wrapped with her business. It got alot of looks and business for her. I am 6' 4" and with the top on I would never be able to drive it. With the top off my line of sight goes right through the top of the windsheild frame. I either have to really scrunch down and have my knees in the dash to see out the windsheild or sit up very straight and look right out the top.
Right after these shitboxes came out I saw one in St. Louis that had Maine plates on it.:laugh: No way in hell I would even attempt that drive.

Can't read it without logging in. But if it's a truck you're talking about? I did say car, you'd have a better chance in a taller/bigger vehicle of course. My Firebird vs. semi doesn't seem like a great outcome. Prolly roll right over the top of it..
ALSO, that's not a smart car, that's a VW Crossfox.

Bluebird94, here's what i was linking to
Details are some what in question.
Seems a truck crossed into his lane and with guard rails on both sides he had no where to go but to slam the brakes and pray.
When they hit the truck pushed him backwards for some distance.
He walked away with nothing broken but he is swollen up bad.

That is a VW CrossFox which is not sold here in the states due to the fact that it does not meet US gov safety regs. I mean really, any car slamming into a semi at full speed would be devastated. Case in point...

Bad crash tests. Those cars do not keep their drivers in any crash with a bigger vehicle.
