Anyone done it? Reason I ask is because I have a BBK 58mm TB that I want to get powder coated. Just need to pull it apart. The BIGGEST issue I have is getting around the return spring. How's that wrapped on there, and how hard is it to put back on?

I havent actually taken the spring off one, but I cant imagine it being too hard. I mean the pressure holding the TB closed isnt too much.
If anyone does this (or if you just have at it Fastbird) post back with results, I am interested to see how tough this is.

So I was thinking about removing all the sensors and possibly leaving the spring and stuff on. I'm thinking I could do a decent job working around that area with a dremel and some different stones...then get after it with some metal polish...

I did some polishing on mine fully assembled. No biggie, but I wasn't happy with the quality of the casting. Here comes a thick coat of powdercoat and that should help out.
I'll probably have at it this week and will report back.

Well......back from the dead here. I tore down my BBK TB tonight. Figured I had to pull it off to drill out the IAC Bleed hole, so might as well take it down.
VERY SIMPLE.
Remove upper and lower plates. Remove IAC from lower plate also if having that coated (I went further and removed the bleed screw assembly and coolant nipples from the base plate since I've got a bypass). Remove TPS. Remove the butterfly blades. On the BBK, all you have to do is pull the shaft out some to extend the spring, then slowly let it unwind until there's no tension. It's on a very nice little plastic retainer setup, so all you have to do is reassemble and wind.
SO.......I'm having the housing, lower plate, and cable guide part of the shaft all done in gloss black to go with the rest of my engine bay stuff. Murdered out yo! :D Just have to find someone to do a gloss black plate with something custom engraved into it.
