I'm about to get my LT1 truck back together and fire it up for the first time in 1.5-2 years. Any suggestions?
First of all... I never planned on leaving down this long... so no prep was done to store it.
So far.... drained all fuel, oil, and coolant (will do tranny fluid).
Changed fuel filter.
Plan on changing oil (or atleast filter) after running it a week or so.
I may put a garden hose up to the radiator hose to give it a better flush. So far I have just poured water into the upper hose till the steam vent hose and the coolant temp sensor hole ran clear.
What else should I do?
someone suggested pulling the plugs and spraying a little wd40 or something to lube the cylinder walls on initial firing. Not so sure on that one.
sea foam?
injector cleaner?
What do you guys think?

Just replace all the fluids and fire it up, shouldent take anything special. If you dont get oil pressure right away, kill it. If it fires at all, your pretty much 80% there.
If all looks good, take it for a spin to get all the cobwebs out.

This probably dont apply to what you are doing but when my dad fired up his mustangs 351c that had not ran in over 8 years he pulled the distributor out and turned the oil pump with a drill to make sure it had oil in it before it fired. but that would be mighty hard with an lt1.

Suggestions as to what to check for?
First couple fires i let off the gas after it revved up. The last two, I had my foot steady at 1/2 throttle, and the RPMs ramped down and it died.

was it stored the whole time with the oil ?

It was stored with oil, but changed 2 weeks ago.
Stored with gas in it. But drained a couple months ago, and fresh gas put in a week or so ago.
Drained tranny fluid, and replaced last night.
Same with coolant.

because if you leave oil in a car too long it could damage the metals inside the engine, cause oil has acids in it, but i dont think you should have any issues as 99% of the oil was at the bottom of the pan
have you checked the charging system yet ? or the fuel pressure ?

Yeah, fuel pressure.. Wheres it at?
And make sure you get all that bad gas out of the lines too, sitting for 2 or 3 years it definitely turned to a gum. It might be as simple as trying to start it more, or it could be bad enough to have to replace the lines. But your fuel pressure will tell you this.

After swapping batteries and revving it to keep it running... it finally leveled off, idled, and runs perfect :D
Not sure whether it was clogged injectors, or a half dead battery... but it's fixed.

There ya go, see doesnt take too much sometimes. All that sputtering had to be junk/bad gas in the lines.

if you are unsure of the injectors, while the car is running you can put a stethoscope up to each injector and hear if they are opening or not and for how long, and be listening to everyone they should all sound the same, if not you can pin point which one is dirty/clogged or bad
