View Full Version : Looking for paint ideas

Ok, so I just picked up a 95 camaro. I've always been a firebird man and really only intended to strip the car for it's driveline and undercarriage, but, after driving it it seems like too nice of a car to part out.
Only thing is it has a few cosmetic issues so I plan to paint it. I'm stumping myself though on ideas. I don't want to do anything too radical but I also don't like looking like everyone else.
Basically just looking for people to toss out random ideas and/or pics to get the creative juices flowing.
I was originally thinking lambo orange with the black roof, berger panel, and side stripes that start out wide from the base of the fender before the tire and narrow as they follow the body line.
But, then I also kinda like the idea of a darked out/sinister looking 4th gen. Just not sure how I feel about doing the car solid black and stopping there.
So, basically, I'm completely open and looking for inspiration lol.

Agreed. This is what i was going to suggest also. Ive often contemplated doing it to mine, but the paint is still MINT, so i wouldnt be able to justify it.

Perhaps a flat black with gloss black stripes?

Give it the same paint scheme as the 35th anniv trans ams with the black and yellow. I love those cars!

Buddy in my crescent has one of those. I don;t know. For some reason, the yellow on that car just doesnt seem appealing to me. Looks.... pasty.

A kid I went to school with wrecked his dads and it almost made me sick. That was back when the car was only a year or two old.

You could do a Hugger Orange early 4th. Not too many of those.

Funny thing is I actually mentioned flat black myself earlier today, but, after thinking it over, I really want something shiny.

I love SOM and Electron Blue. Both are sick colors. If I were to change the color of my Formula I'd definately go with Electron Blue. I think it looks sick.

The Admiral Blue that came on C4s is one of my all-time favorites. Would be fitting on a car from that era.

black would be my first choice (apparently)
granite metallic (like on the g6's) would be my second choice...

A couple people on our local fbody board suggested almost the same colors and both have my attention but I think I kind of want a little more flash now that I think about it.

I'm toying with copying a paint job I did a few years ago on a customer of mine's car. I know he sold it a while ago so I don't see him caring.

Or maybe use that basic premise and change it up a little?
Feel free to toss out opinions.

Pearl white with some ghost graphics.Pearl white, while gorgeous, is one of the biggest PITA colors ever to spray and match if anything ever goes wrong.
What kind of ghost graphics though? I think I want to do something ghost, especially if I go dark color, but not sure what.

I have ZERO experience with painting cars, but I always see those Escalades in Pearly White, and they look incredible. Just don't do ghost flames, wayyyyyyy too played out. How about a ghosted hockey stripe like the '69 Camaro's had?

I've been liking the hockey stripe idea. Was leaning towards going black with a candy hockeystick stripe (would look very ghost) but not sure if I want to deal with a black car.

And I agree that pearl white looks awesome, I just know hard hard it is to repair if anything happens to it, I've been in the bodywork industry for almost 10 years...

Two tone it....

Black on the bottome...
Favorite color candy hockey stripe
silver on top.

You get the black looks... but since the top isn't black, it doesn't show the dirt and morning dew NEARLY as much.... see sig for why I say that :D

Ooh, hmm, maybe it's high time I go get myself another airbrush and try out some real fire. I almost forgot all about that.

Although, a nice bright orange is becoming really tempting the more I see it.
