I have a 95 V6 Firebird (eventually getting LT1 swapped) that is white in color. I spotted some of the 3rd gen crosslace wheels at a local junkyard and was thinking about throwing them on my car.

This is the style of wheel I am looking at

Anyway, I would have the gold portion of the wheel powdercoated or painted black and change the center caps maybe. I just want to know what you guys think about how these wheels would look on an early 4th gen.

If anyone could Photoshop these wheels onto a white 4th gen 'bird that would be awesome

There's a guy on the local forums who has a '99 NBM Firehawk and rocked some gold crosslace wheels for about a week. I wasn't really impressed.

I found a pic of it. Looks decent, but I'd much rather the Firehawk wheels on it. As far as a white v6 early 4th gen body style, I don't think it would be as nice as black Vette wheels or aftermarket.

They dont look right. The offsets make them stick out if you are going for the low rider look

I cant find a pic I took last year at a car show here. A dude had them on his 4th gen. Tires were too small, backspace/offset was wrong and they generally looked out of place. Year One makes them for the 4th gen cars in bigger sizes too. They are not cheap. FWIW i got my Black Deep Dish ZR1's with tires delivered for about a grand.

Everyone is suggesting 'Vette wheels, but I wanted to go a different direction. Seems like Z06 and ZR1 wheels are pretty common, and I wanted to go a little off-the-wall. I really kind of want to go for the muscle car look with a fair amount of tire, the older wheels, and not much of a drop.

For those that have seen them, do the cross-lace wheels stick out past the body? I would like to fill the wheel wells out some more width-wise and thought the 3rd gen wheels might do what I want. Either way, I think I'll try them and if I don't like them, I can probably sell them for what I'll end up paying and not lose anything.

I'm a college student, so money isn't super plentiful, and I thought this might be a way to lose my ugly ass salad shooter ABS wheels

Thats what I was afraid of. I'd like a wheel/tire combo that will come out flush with the body, like the rear wheels of the car in your sig. I hate having tires that are like 3-4" inboard of the quarter panel

i had them on mine for a week when my other tires were to screwed to drive on. they fit decent i guess im not sure if they were sticking out much at all, but looked bad imo

Thanks for posting pics, I actually think I like them, but maybe not on a black car. They would def look better on my car since its white, IMO.

I think I'm going to go for it, they don't look quite like I hoped, but I still like it.

they could look better with 245/50s but still there a small rim. i had them on there for less then a week i think. the tires were a 235/55 so a bit taller.

There has been a local V6 4th gen bird that has been running thirdgen wheels for years here, 15's though. They don't look out of place at all. I hate thirdgen firebird wheels though because the center caps always seem to fall off.

Yeah, i think the stock tire size or even something a bit wider but not taller would look better. I'm not concerned with them being small, in fact, I like the 16" wheel size. I'm not so much a fan of really big wheels, I probably wouldn't go any bigger than 17s on my car, 18s max.

I'm debating going with white letter tires even to add to the old muscle car look a bit. I want a blend of new and old style on this car. I'm 21, so when the 93-97 'Birds were new, I was a kid and loved them. I was so excited to get my hands on one a couple months back for a great price, but I still love old muscle cars so I want a fusion so to speak of the two.

Awesome. I'm not too worried about the center caps falling off, I could super glue them on if they piss me off too much lol. I just love the cross-lace wheels, and they will be something different that most people aren't doing with the 4th gens
