I am looking at trading in my 04 Nissan Titan on a 06-07 Dodge 2500 5.9 Diesel truck. Anyone have one? Thoughts, concerns? I drove two today, a six speed and an automatic. The six speed is a 2007, white, with about 1000 dollars in up grades (bed cover, lots of chrome, and the goose neck hitch.) 14k miles and it's a beauty. I don't like the fact that it only has a single cd player, and the tires suck, but thats all I can really say bad about it. The other is a 2006, auto, red (which I love), 31k, fully loaded with everything. The down fall to it is, I'm not crazy about the auto transmission. I can buy either truck for the same money. Today I played the game of "Im gonna go to X place and try there's out." I figure tom. I can play one dealership against the other. Any tips guys?

When you figure cost of maintance (oil changes, fuel filter, etc), and the difference in diesel vs gas prices, do you really come out ahead in a diesel??

I'm getting 15 mpg on a good day now. So 23 would be nice.

Go with the 6 speed. Stock VS stock it's a better trans. Plus, it'll hold up to some power (stock clutch more than likely won't) if/when you decide to turn it up.

I believe the six speed is a heavy duty trans. alot more durable than the auto. either one id say go for it. diesel all the way. more efficent and more power and better resale. all around winner in my book

One of my best friends has an 01 cummins diesel. 5 speed and a 6in lift with 37's under it. Its a beast.

IDK how the newer auto transmissions are... But I do know that their old ones were total shit.

Thanks for all the input. I have been crunching numbers on the web for about two hours now. I need a brake, my head is smoking. We will see how tom. goes, but, I can tell right now both dealership are about $2300 off me making a deal.

I want the 6 speed, they are damn hard to come by around here in the 5.9 diesel (only one within 150 miles.)

I had a 99 2500 deisel. tons of power but like any other Dodge it had tons of electrical problems. Everything was small stuff tho, nothing major but still a headache.

get the friggen 6-speed truck NOW!!

about the only difference between a diesel and gasser is that you change the fuel filter every 10k miles or so. so pretty much every other oil change (if you change at 5k miles)
