So we were there getting new bush guard lights for my truck and we were at the rear counter of the building, when all of the sudden there was a HUGE bang at the front door......
I look up and see what looks like the front doors and frame work are falling in.... as my eyes drop, I see it......

YUP, that a toyota celica trying to make its way in the front door....
I walked up to check if the driver was ok, AND NO ONE INSIDE THE CAR.....
A young lady (PANICKED) who was in the lot crying says to me..... "I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED", I asked her who was driving, and she said "NO ONE".
I called Pottstown PD, and let them know what was going on, then while waiting for them to respond, I got yelled at by the Manager to get away from the door... (till I badged her)
When Pottstown PD gets there, i stuck around and learned what happened. She had dropped her car off for service, and the tech had parked it out front for pick up. She arrived to get it, and decided to use the REMOTE START to warm it up.....(BAD IDEA) since the car was in gear....
It drove across the lot, and jumped the curb and destroyed the PEPBOYS entrance... look close, thats my SUV with the lights on the roof that her Celica just missed on its way into the store.
Thats the girl/lady to the left of the pic.....

Nah, ultimatly it will be the owners fault....
Holy smokes. Close call! Too bad she couldn't blame it on her accelerator sticking! haha

Convenient you're a cop.. First-hand witness..
I'm guessing it was a stick-shift where they modified it to have remote start?

Whats the legalities concerning that?

The owner of the vehicle will be at fault.... I doubt it will go any further than that, unless she has no insurance or something like that.....

You'd be surprised man. I had an old 88 honda accord that i could start by putting it in first, not touching the gas and just cranking it over. It would lurch forward like 3 times and then fire and idle away haha. I used to start it like that all the time, it was a pos. :D

Yeah... same here, apparently that celica started and even picked up a lil momentum.... then it stalled after the crash, THEN the owner actually remote started it again.... and it sat stationary on the curb barking the tires, doing a small low rpm burnout ... (front of the car was on top of everything, so the tires were barely touching the ground....)
Nope, i cant escape it, however my g/f thought it was amusing that while everyone was panicking and screaming, I was calmly walking towards the crash, dialing Pottstown PD on my phone..... lol, I think what realy crossed my mind was GREAT, HOW LONG WILL I NEED TO BE HERE FOR THIS....

I wish something like that would happen at my store. I work at Pep Boys as the Assistant Service Manager and our service desk faces our front door. I've seen some crazy stuff, but nothing like this.
