Sorry if this is a repeat of a question on here, but I didn't really find the answer I was looking for..

Hey, in order to switch to OBD1 (from speed density), what do I need? This is my understanding thus far.. If I use a 94 harness/pcm, it should be a direct swap to the car (without changing body harness) right? All I would need is a maf (optional), heated o2's and a new IAC right? Thanks in advance for any input!! I posted this on LS1tech and no helpful responses \=

also with some research i found out that the bulkhead connector on the pass. side strut tower (the part of the engine harness that connects to the body harness), the wires are for the same purpose, except for one. Cavity D in the 93 harness is for the Serial Data Signal, while Cavity D in the 94 harness is for Traction Control Active.. So where is the serial data signal for the 94 harness? I guess it's not as direct of a swap as I thought? Anyone? :shiner:

you are already OBD1... so what exactly are you trying to do and why? if you want the use of a MAF just get a 94 LT1 harness, MAF, Heated O2's and PCM and tune it for your car, im sure there might be a few others little things. but why exactly do you need to swap?

Simply so I don't have to spend the money for chip-burning equipment (call me cheap lol) but I already have all of the 94+ tuning and datalogging software/equipment at no expense, so I'm just trying to make things easier. This is a daily that I fool around with so I will be messing around with the tune as I go. I already figured everything out though, but I appreciate the input anyway!

yea it is nicer to tune, if you need to tune. but IMO a MAF sensor is just another thing that can break down and leave you stranded...lol... just an obstruction in the induction.
i say have someone tune your 94 computer to Speed Density and ditch that MAF...lol

I'm doing the tuning and yeah, wasn't planning on running the crap. I mean MAF. 0=)

Finished the swap. Didn't have to change ANY wires around for it to start up. I'm sure I have to change over the Serial Data Signal wire to do the tuning. Hopefully that's it though.

So, I connected the "Serial Data Signal" wire to where it's supposed to be, and now the car starts (like it did before) and just completely dies after about a second. Like power is pulled or something. Granted, there isn't a MAF or IAC hooked up, how come it ran prior to hooking up the serial data signal wire, and now it just shuts off?
