Post Your Headunit

I've kinda thought about buying a new headunit.... Not sure because I really like my car looking pretty stock. I've only got "minor" mods to it that to a unexperienced eye would look factory (lowered, bigger tires, chrome wheels, etc.)

Anyway I wanted to see some peoples head units so I can decide if I want to go to a aftermarket headunit or not.

The Avic D3 will be for sale shortly. I lost my job and need cash. This is the first car I'm aware of to sport this unit, and this bezel. I made the bezel myself and wrapped it in leather.

it's a JVC, i forget the model off the top of my head but its MP3 and USB drive capable (up to 4gb which is whats in there right now) the lights on it glow red which is kind of cool cause its close to the factory orange on the gauges

I definitely love the look of the factory head units, but they just dont compare to aftermarkets in quality.

This is my old Alpine CDA-9857 headunit in my old V6, i was also missing the trim ring for it at the time. I know have an Alpine CDA-9884 that I like, but i miss the full text on the 9857. I don't have any pics of my new one. The installation looks a lot cleaner than this one below though

+1 for the 9857 but i just picked up an old Alpine CDM-7871 only for the old school V-Drive internal amps they got.

How do you guys get the steering wheel controls to work with it?

Infrared transmitters that get wired into the buttons to transmit to your radio. I have been putting off buying one for the longest. ~$50 on ebay. Just search "steering wheel control adapter"

Stock Bose CD. Had an Alpine in my truck and in my old F-bods which I loved, until someone decided they wanted it more than me.

The stock one in my car works for me, can't really hear it over the exhaust/blower though. :lol:

I just recently had my bezel remade and painted gloss black to match the car :) Here are the 2 shots I have currently of it. Please excuse the fingerprints and smudges. I had just finished installing it into the car when I took the pictures.

i got the one for mine at a best buy in ft lauderdale when i bought the car back in 04.. i put an old jensen mp3 player/cd changer in it from my tbird sc.. its so much nicer having the usb now instead of the changer since i can access all the tracks the same way, and add more to the usb (4gb of music is a hell of a lot more than 6 CD's, hell the 1gb i got when i first bought the unit was only half full when i copied the 6 cd's to mp3 and put them on there)

when that unit broke and i went to get a new one, best buy was going to give me a free install but i would have had to purchase a new bezel and wire harness :rolleyes: so i took the deck home, removed the old deck's wiring harness from my harness adaptor, wired up the new one, and reused the bezel too since i knew it was the right one.

Pioneer DEH-P7900BT

Biggest waste of money, yet. I paid $300 shipped off ebay, right when they hit the street a few years ago. I actually bid on the color screen one, but they were sold out. So I got this for no extra charge.

I lost the remote somewhere in the car, too. If anyone wants this, don't buy it. It flashes from black to blue when it's playing a cd and is too bright at night. Maybe when there's some gauges in the dash it wont be as bad?

Figured I would throw my hat in the ring...

It is a three-din Alpine setup, with an IVA-D900 LCD Flipout headunit, HDA-5460 HDD MP3 unit and a RUX-C800 processor controller... Oh, and the A/C controls are relocated to the glovebox... Also, yes, that is stitched leather on the dash and the gauges in the cluster cowl are totally custom (as well as the stitched Alcantera seude and 2 kinds of leather throughout)... The rest of the stereo is a few pages long, so I'll save the sapce for now, unless someone is interested and then I can post up the rest of the details...

Hey maybe you guys can help me...my AUX cord just stopped working on me and I took it apart and found an found an iSimple cord with an iPhone charger connected to the AUX. I want a new headunit anyway but I still wanna run the AUX cord and Android charger through the center console and up through the ash tray where I cut a section out of. I would like to find a headunit with the AUX port and a USB port in the back of the unit. Does anyone know of any headunits with the ports in the rear? Thanks in advance!
