I'm trying to figure out the value of my vintage classical guitar... its a Greco GR124K... my mom had given it to me about 6 years ago. Apparently this was the top of the line classical guitar back when it was made, and my mom said she paid like $450 for it brand new back in the early 70's. Here is an old ad for the guitar I found... http://goyaguitars.tripod.com/greco70_2.htm

I was trying to see if something like this actually might have appreciated in value because I'm trying to build my own custom electric. Thanks in advance. I'd take it to guitar center or something but they'd write me up an estimate of like $50 or something.

Best bet is to take it to an appraiser. I've never heard of it, but I'm not a guitar historian, I just like to play.

ive heard of greco but never seen or played one.its a japanese guitar company and they havent really produced any guitars in like 20 years.they really didnt make a whole lot either so it is kinda rare if its in good shape.

its actually in great shape... i figured a guitar this old would have been coming apart at the seams and stuff.. no dents or anything, just a few surface swirls that could be polished out. neck is still straight. my mom seems to think its not going to be worth that much, but i figured anything somewhat vintage would be worth more, especially in excellent physical condition and fun to play.

i can't wait to start this electric project. i'm going with a randy rhodes V body in poplar (looking for crisper highs) with a jackson neck, emg pickups, floating and locking rose tremolo bridge and nut . . . only problem is what color... but i'll probably go with red and black... two colors that are raw as hell. i'll post pics when i'm eventually done.

Probably couldn't get much for it since it's not a popular brand, no one knows much about them, and it's Japanese. I wouldn't hold onto the "it's vintage" idea. Best bet would be to try to sell it based on the quality of guitar rather than its lineage. Could be wrong though.. might be worth thousands?!

Yeah I figured it wouldn't be worth much being Japanese made... oh well...
