So I called up a friendly aquaintence tonight to go run his new 03 Mach 1. It is stock with unbolted mufflers. I have Pacesetter long tubes and true duals.
So first we go from a dig, he smokes me off the line, he walks hard and we shut it down around 130 with him atleast 3 cars ahead. Then we did a 40 roll with the same outcome. :(
We both figured I would win, this one surprised me. He walked me like this stock 03 Cobra did. I know its not my driving cause Im a good driver. And my car is running fine at a 8.84 in the 1/8th with a 2.24 60ft trapping ~82mph.
Im trading it in.

Don't trade it in! There's still hope left for the LT1. Maybe he has a factory freak. I went out today and ran a built 5.0 into the ground (on a 75 shot)!
Keep in mind that LT1s are really 1/8th mile cars. After the 1/8th stock ones will fall on their face. Keep in mind that the 60 ft. can really improve. They say that any tenth in the 60 ft. is .2 in the 1/4 so you just have to improve on that.
LT1s have plenty of potential man. Its just getting them there.

I hope your kidding about trading it in. Stock Mach 1's are like 13.6 cars and cost ~$15k. Your LT1 very much has the potential to be a 13.5 car and it cost ~$8k. You do the math.

I wouldnt trade it in for a Mach, an 03-04 would be the one to go with. I have an 03 and I absolutley love it. I have an 03-04 (terminator) engine in my 96 with a Kenne Bell and it is so much fun... but the lt1 can also be made fast.. when my Lt1 is done it will be faster than the 03, most likely not as fast as the 96 tho.
I agree LT1s have alot of potential!
A stock Mach1 should do 13.2-13.30's all day.. about 105. I wouldn't expect a stock motor LT1 with full exhaust to hang with one. I raced an 03 with a catback... my car being an intake/catback/4.10 car... from a 15 roll, we were door to door til about 110 and that's when he started pulling away from me.

I am guessing the Mach had more done than you think. When my car was n/a (LTs and CAI) it went 13.06 @ 107 with a 2.0 60'... so it was an easy 12.8 car if I unhooked the front sway bar and hooked well... unless I have a factory freak, I am pretty sure you should've been dead even with him if not faster. Is your car tuned? What type of numbers did it put down?

Your car ran an 8.84 in the 1/8th with a shitty 60' time. I would say you'd hit an 8.4-8.5 with a solid 1.95 or so. That is 13.3-13.4 territory with a good 60' time. A stock Mach1 will already do that if not better, so I would say the outcome was predictable.

What I'm saying is my car is a low 13 sec car, which I thought stock Mach 1's were right there too.

Have you run your car in the 1/4 mile yet? An 8.84 is not a low-13. Even an 8.4-8.5 is borderline getting there. A Mach1 is there stock. I'd say a Mach1 would be 8.3ish bone-stock in the 1/8th, and the one you raced had a little exhaust work too, so figure it would be a touch quicker.

I know 8.84 is not a low 13. But that was with a 2.24 60ft. If my local track wasn't so shitty I could pull off a 8.4-8.5 which is around a 13.2. 8.3ish is borderline 12's I didn't know they were that quick stock.
Its been common for some guys to his 12.9x's in stock trim with sticky tires. Some of the Machs run very well, and some are turds. You'd be lucky to get better than a 13.70 with an auto Mach1.

the average mach 1 is a mid 13 second car. your mods put you right there with them.

Mach 1's are usually mid 13's in stock form with your average driver.

There are quite a few Mach I's that really run good bone stock or modified. That is one sneaky combination to pin down, even the slow one's run pretty good (at least that has been my experience). I would be willing to agree that it has a little more done to it (whether your friend knows or not). Going from a roll should have been the equalizer, but if he still put 3 cars on you, it for sure is a 13.0 car if your saying the WS6 is low 13.3 capable. I've run a few Mach's, even with all the bolt-ons (and I mean all the bolt-ons) there has been 1 or 2 that have given me a handful (not sure what was done, but they ran good). I've been as fast as a 12.6 @ 109 with just about all of the bolt-ons and my 60ft was not that good (1.9xx). The night I ran a 12.61 there was a white Mach I with all the bolt-ons and 4:30 gears running 12.60's @ 109 (he actually ran a 109.55 as his best that night). We ran about 3 or 4 times and it was ridiculousy close every single race. If I could get my 60ft down into the 1.6xx range with the PCM tuned and the cut-out on the car now I bet my stuff would go 12.40 ish @ 110 + Both of us complimented on each others car :D Don't sell it, just mod it more
