so I went to an interview today. Well on the way home the timing belt shredded on my beater. well I call my roadside asst and tell them I need a tow, they tell me well we only cover the first 10 miles so you will have to cover the differnce since it was 25 miles from where i was ok whatever I dont care I just want to get this crap over with send the damn truck. They tell me due to traffic that its gonna be 2 hours. so there I was stuck in the right hand lane of a busy ass hwy. So Im sitin there waiting and watching my mirrors to make sure no dumbass runs in to me. The whole time people are raceing to get around other people so they can go around me. I just feel im gona get rearended. I watch 2 differnt cops drive by and not notice me. Well an hour down sitting in the lane a cop finally shows up to see whats goin on. So I tell him the engin died and wont start and that I have a tow truck on the way. So after he takes my license and runs it he comes back and asks if I want a push down the road to get in a parking lot, so I say sure. I was laughing by ass of as im being pushed down the road by this cop just smiling and looking around. I finally make it in the drive way and in to a spot. I have myu pops drive up and bring some tools and a flashlight. Well i look in the oil fill hole and have him turn it over. low and behold no valve movement. TIMING BELT! The belt and tensioner pulley was replaced last winter. Well the tow truck shows up 2 hours later and hooks his wench up the my tow hitch since he didnt want us to push the car backwards to load it front first. So hes pulling the car up on the flatbed, it gets on the bed and he starts lifting the bed up to level. while hes working the controls hes jerking it a little, all of a suppen SNAP my hitch breaks off and my cars starts rolling forward twords the ground a good 3.5 feet off the ground. so the towtruck guy, my dad and me run forward to stop it from rolling off. we get it stopped and then i jumped in to keep my foot on the brake so he can finish loading my car and straping it down. Finally get it home and unloaded in the driveway. I ask the guy how much it was gonna be and he said dont worry bout it. I get the feeling he made it free cuz he almost totalled my car. At least something went good. So now I gotta wait till tomorrow to go bitch at advanced about the crappy parts they sold me last year and make them give me new parts.

well end of rant just needed to complain to my car friends.

Just FYI, you're not going to get new parts til' you bring the old parts back in. Not sure that a timing belt carries a warranty so don't be surprised if you get told you're SOL. Sucks, but that's just the truth.

At least you got the car home. My wife was driving my beater while I was deployed a few years ago. Belt went, tow truck driver picked her up and fastens vehicle.....without any forward restraint. You can guess what happened. Ended up being a free tow for her.

i got a belt and water pump last winter once i have it completly taken apart and find out what shredded the belt (it looks like the tensioner puller which come on the new water pump was the cause) im gonna go bitch. i know all the guys at the part store pretty well so it shouldnt be a problem gettin them to warranty one out.

That's cool. If you got a hookup I'm shutting my trap. :D Hope you get it figured out quick so you don't have to drive the F-Bod in the winter!

so the guys at advanced were coola bout it and warrantied out the water pump and timing chain since it was the tensioner pulley which comes on the water pump they fell apart and destroyed the belt. so should be put back together by tomorrow night
