Here are some photos of my new Dart block SBC 427 stroker. Dragon-Slayer 4" crank, CompStar rods, JE 14.4-1 pistons, Comp custom solid-roller, Jesel shaft-rockers, Dart Pro-1 230 heads, 950 CFM Race Demon, Stahl 1-7/8" to 2" step primary tube headers. It's making 700HP at the flywheel and is in a 2300 pound race-weight tube-chassis Cavalier

I'm bringing my 1997 Modified N/A Z28 again for the third Shoot-Out. It's currently running 10.80s (ran 10.90s at the 2009 Shoot-Out) and I still have "a lot" of weight to lose and still easily make class weight. Additionally, at the 2009 Shoot-Out my Z28 smoked eveyone in the Modified N/A class on MPH, with 126.9. Everyone else was around 122 MPH. So, I'm making some serious HP and just need to work-on some performance details with my package.
Hopefully, I won't be too distracted racing the Cavalier this season and can have the Z28 performing at its max for the Shoot-Out in September (with some undisclosed upgrades)! :secret:

Nice.
I have a similiar goal with this car. The weight difference is unreal.
Could you post a picture of the bottom of the windshield(a veiw from the front)? That is what I'm going to do to this car when I get the new hood and windshield.
Thanks

Mike,
Here is a photo of the windshield notch for the distributor, which is typical for a set-back engine and tube-chassis car (it's all fiberglass). Also, I'm planning on adding a crank-trigger ignition to this engine. A friend "owes" me an MSD crank-trigger system, but he can't find it in his shop. So, I may have to buy another one new.
Also, the race weight on the tube-chassis Cavalier is 1,100 pounds "less-than" my Z28 LTX car.

Thanks for the picture. The crank trigger is nice but in a f-body phasing the cap is about impossible. I do it with a mirror. With my neck all twisted up. I saw a camaro at a track one time that had the windshield like that. I wish I would have snapped a few pictures. Then I saw the camaro on drag race high, which really got me thinking.
Thats a nice combo.

Mike,
I haven't considered a crank-trigger for my LTX engine, as I like the PCM programming to control the timing advance. And, that is another part of the high-tech LTX game! However, with my low-tech SBC the crank-trigger makes a lot of sense. And, phasing the distributor to the total advance point is very easy.
Also, the windshield body notch on the Cavalier is a Glasstek fiberglass part of the car and the Lexan cut to match the body notch. If you're going to use a Lexan replacement windshield, the notch would be easy. However, if you're staying with auto glass, it would probably have to be cut by some speciality car glass shop. I guess the Camaro factory body panel could be cut with a long saws-all blade.

Here are some recent 2010 videos of the Cavalier. It looks like it is going to be an 8.90 N/A car in good air and it goes straight down the track every time. This car is a lot of fun to drive and that 150 MPH at the stripe is a real rush!!!

winters make cars run lean when they first start up, that me be what your smelling. also id recommend you to check your tire pressure, that can easily make your mpg drop. also when air filters are really dirty itll cause your mpg to drop aswell. it may be a bigger problem, do u feel any loss in power? because if so it may be another cause.

What kind of exhaust work? Was the cat changed? could be getting blocked.
The fuel injectors may be dirty/worn.
Also maybe an o2 sensor.
