I smoothed out the wrinkled metal. I prepped all the existing paint, and steel with 220 grit paper.

Welded holes closed, and grinded them down.
Applied filler and block sanded with 120 then 220
Applied self-etching primer wet sanded with 400
Applied thick coat of filler primer sanded with 400
Applied mist coat of black
Applied wet coat of black x2
Applied mist coat of clear
Applied wet coat of clear x4

With filler

Did you just use the 220 grit on your strut towers, if you did that looks pretty good for that much grit!

I used 220 so the self etching primer had alot of "grab" on to.

Thanks Tyler,

Bad news guys, the machine shop (Ty's Machine shop, memphis, tn) did some really bad work. I'm having to take them to court over this. Few things that were wrong are upon dissasembly:

1. 1 broken ring and 1 bent ring came out of the assembled motor
2. New bearings were trashed in the new motor
3. Block surface is bad, they didn't deck it and assembled anyways
4. Bores still had wear even after the boring and they assembled it anyways
5. They didn't balance the rotating assembly and assembled the block anyways

Good news though, Spectacle Solutions (http://www.spectaclesolutions.com/) in Memphis, TN has taken care of me. I just got a new block from them, new rings bearings ect and the machine work looks excellent. I will post new pics when I pick it up tomorrow. I would highly recommend this shop if you live in the memphis area, they have really treated me right.

Adam

Yes after I told them all this they are willing to furnish 1 new ring but there answer the the wear in the bores, bad bearings (that they supplied), bad deck surface, unbalanced rotating assembly is ahhhhh it'll be fine. umm no it won't be fine. I'm writing up a letter with pictures right now to give them a buy it now or see you in court.
