So we are set on moving to Illinois 100%. We are seriously considering Schaumburg .
We are looking to be set to move up there mid July . We just had a few questions
only our Fcar friends can answer :)
Emissions ? Does IL have any ?
Is Schaumburg a good general area for the car/Fbody scene ?
In your opinions is Schaumburg a good area to live ? (we have heard yes from many people but it never hurts to ask)
Whats the cruising/hang out spots close to ?
If you havent noticed we are VERY big into the Fbody/car scene so any pointers and help is appreciated :)
What are the roads like ? Nice , Generally nice , or pothole infested ?
Whats IL sales tax ?
How bad are the cops with busting people for cruising/hanging out kind of things ?
What are the best months to take the Babys out and enjoy them ?
Where is the track and how far of a drive to it from Schaumburg ?
Thats it for now but I know we will think of some more later on :claps:
P.S: We also noticed Schaumburg is a little more expensive area to live but in return
we hope its a nicer place . Are we correct ?

Oh where to start...... where will you be working?
Schaumburg is grid lock with a shit ton of shopping
Streets of woodfield is where people go up there but it is fast and furious crowd
Taxes.... Stay out of Crook, i mean cook county
Cops....bad news
Roads depends on where you are... usually the winter and salt trucks tear them up and all spring summer fall they are repairing them all
Drive the cars usually late march after rains get rid of the salt, put away in Nov.
If I know what you are looking to spend on a house, I can steer you in a good direction. Also where you will be working and how long u want to commute. I live further out from downtown Chicago than Schaumburg but can make it there much quicker.
To be honest the car scene is very big up here. It just depends on where u want to hang out. I drive all over to places to hang out and cruise. I actually run a F body car club called NIFBA. There is also a great group of guys at MFBA. A lot of them are on here. Tons of great speed shops too up here.

Kick ass Thank you :D So we dont have to have emissions for two reasons .
1. Both cars are older than 1996
2. Schaumburg is in Cook county which is Exempt :D

I am farther south in Elwood (60421) it is in Will County. Where I live there are no emissions of any kind. I am about 45 minutes outside of Chicago. I agree with Jpack. There are tons of groups and cars and racing are a HUGE thing in the Chi-town area. I am a member of NIFBA and everyone I have met is awesome! There are lots of forum members in this area. I thing Channahon and Minooka are excellent places to live. (especially if you have kids) Look forward to having you in the area!

Crime, what crime in sugar grove ? Rentals are all about the same and if you got a few more bucks a month you can rent a house. I am 42 miles from downtown chicago. Cops, well dont speed on rt47 and you are good to go. I have a ton of cops in the neighborhood all of which come over when I am working on the car or I get the thumbs up driving around. Hell I drink with the cops during the summer. It is more of a neighborhood where if you see your neighbor out, you come over with a beer...or case.... lol
As far as where to stay away from....
Downtown Aurora, Elgin, Carpentersville, Dundee, DeKalb. I am partial to where I am cause there are a ton of roads to play on and the speed limit out of my subdivision is 55 :)

Pre-Welcome to the area , I grew up in Summit which is on the southside. And I lived in Lasalle County for 6 years. No Emissions at all out there. I perfer the country life than the city. Minooka as woosh said is a good choice. Or if you can find something outside of Manhattan or Newlenox there are tons of developments out that way.
And to third stay out of cook county.

Most of the towns listed are in the country IMO, Schuamburg, Rolling Meadows, Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Prospect heights, Wheeling, Palatine, Lake Zurich and many more are all alot closer to the city but still very suburban.
Lots of cruise spots, Downtown Mt Prospect has a cruise night every week, Rolling Meadows & Barrington have a show every week with a couple hundred cars each.
Cops are not that bad around here if your not driving like an ass.
3 Tracks are within driving distance.
I passed emissions in my car the way it sits.
Night life is good with thousands of places to go.
only thing that really sucks is sales tax in some towns of Cook co. Schuamburg is 10%
Not much crime in any of these towns except a few apt buildings.

hope you enjoy not being able to drive your car 4-5 months out of the year, and wtf is up with 10% sales tax? there is a reason they call it Crook County :jest:

It all depends on the area to be honest. We wanted to stay around $800 a month, but if there were people willing to room we would work it out that way too. We look to be renting fr roughly around a year before we start lookin at houses so we can get used to the area first. We don't have any little ones, just a doggy. And 3 cars ;) Under 1k wouldn't be too bad either if it has a garag for us.
Where abouts you lookin at??
