I'll start. As many of you know, I am a USAF pilot in training, so flying is another obvious one for me, but besides that and everything surrounding fast cars, I also enjoy photography, shooting, video editing, and 4 wheeling, and the occasional video game from time to time.

Life hasn't really permitted me to do much past flying lately, but in the future there are a few things I have though about getting into, like learning how to play the guitar and possibly doing some woodworking.

What is everyone else into?

I love old (vintage arcade, computer, console, and handheld) games and computers. I Build MAME (Multi Arcarde Machine Emulator) Cabinets sometimes. I still have my Commodore 64 (still works), and I play NES and SNES a lot. I build / tweak computers/laptops on the side. I like electronics in general. I used to be really into custom car and home audio, but I dont get to spend much time on that anymore. I like to weld and fabricate stuff, and my dad is a big woodworker. I am learning to not be afraid of woodworking tools since i stand to inherit a huge shop full of them. I farm in the summer and take care of 4 goats. Finally I try to keep current with green energy, especially photovoltaics (Solar). I go to conferences all over the world sometimes to keep up.

Edit:

I got a Killer Grill for fathers day last year. I love to cook.. and eat.. is why i am fat!
And I do smoke the occasional Cigar. I have a few pre-embargo Cubans and I like a lot of different makers.

I would love to learn how to weld as well!

Sorry to take my own thread askew here, but do you know anything about current solar paneling? I was thinking about getting some for my roof but have no idea how expensive or efficient it is (or where to get it for that matter).

Cars is my big one. My second most valuable hobby is my Emmitt Smith football cards. I have the most extensive collection in the nation of BGS Graded 9.5 Emmitt cards, currently at 107 different ones. EVERY 90 year card, a #22 of 22 auto, a 1 of 10 Auto/Jersey, a 1 of 25, two more auto's......all about as perfect as they get. Other hobbies would be photography that I'm getting into, but the #1 anymore is being a dad to my little boy.

I know some. We just installed a 7.8 KW system on the farm. It cost a little ove $60K and the State of DE payed for 1/2. We do not store energy so we switch to the grid at night and on dark days. It cut the power bill in half, but will take proablly 11 more years to make the money back. You can sell you overproduction as a REC (Renewable Energy Credit). Here in DE it is not great for solar, not enough "sun days". We mainly did it for the warm fuzzys and the fact I am in the industry. I would frist check with your municipality to see what incentives there are. The federal ones suck IMHO. Google Photovoltaics manufacturers. I used to work for a big one, but they went out of business due to cooking the books. GE, BP, SPI, LDK are major manufactureres, but they mostly sell to smaller installers who build the system. You will need a good roof (read that not old) or a place in the yard to put it up on poles. I would start by looking around your area for ppl with systems. They are usually happy to talk about them. Call around to some electrical contractors. A lot of them do installs now and have tie-ins with system re-sellers.

edit:

Fastbird made me remeber i collect stuff too. Besides cars i collect old toys and Coca-Cola memoribilia. Our kitchen and dining room looks like Coke blew up in there.. Oddly enough RC cola and Dr Pepper are my favorites.. hmmm

Computers/Technology: I've been building computers since I was 12. Learned HTML and PHP about 14-16. I feel I know a pretty vast array of technologies. VMware, Visual Studio, Oracle, Office Suite, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Networking & Subnetting, etc. etc.

Cars: Helped my dad build a SBC 355 when I was 12. Always fixed what I can (time, tools, etc.) but some things I outsource to a trustworthy mechanic. Helped my dad swap a 454 in his '70 Chevelle SS recently. Modified a few LT1's since my first one that I bought when I was 17.

Photography: Not a big hobby of mine, but I'd love to get into it more when I have free time. 60+ hr weeks don't allow for much of that though.

Dirtbikes: Me and my brother sold our gokarts for 2 Suzuki dirtbikes growing up and I rode them on occasion from ages 12-16. Still have them, they've been sitting in the garage since I got my drivers license. Didn't get a truck until the end of my senior year and I've never had the time to dig them out and get them running and take them out. I'm pulling them out this summer and getting them running and most likely selling them this summer. Once I graduate I plan on getting a newer Silverado Z71 then I'd like to pick up another bike after that. Thinking about a motorcycle but I don't trust most drivers on the road enough.

There's more... Music, Sports, etc.

Things I used to do, that I dont anymore but really should :

Paintball : Used to play tournament paintball. Had a pretty good team for awhile, college kinda got in the way of that. Pretty much custom built both the guns I had (2002 E-cocker w/ AC eye and every mod you can imagine, 2k1 Angel LCD with the Freeflow mod and everything else you can imagine). I plan on getting back into it, pretty pissed I sold that Angel. I used to play some woodsball with friends too.

Riding/Offroading : Used to be very into it, but friends went seperate ways and moved. Trying to pickup either some dirtbikes or snowmobiles to take up North.

Hockey : Nuff' Said.

Things I currently do :

Fix and Mod Cars/Trucks : Yes, me too. Gas/Diesel, Domestic/Import... you name it I mess around with it.

Work : I can include this as a hobby, right? I'm there most often...

Fixing my Family's cars : This is more of a job, really... But it can go here too...

Driving : I do alot of this too, some for business and some for leisure... Whats the fun of modding em' if you arent going to drive em'?

Music : Metal/Rock/Grunge...... I listen to music enough that it could be more than a hobby.

I like to get drunk as hell and beat up my girlfriend. Just kiddn.

I used to hunt and fish a lot but it's hard to make time anymore. I enjoy my second job and it's kind of a hobby. I paint houses on the side, decent money. I collect old Nascar stuff, enjoy shooting pool, riding my four wheeler, and drinking beer watching football.

Uh... being a jungle gym for my 4yr old son along with a trampoline for him (keeps the abs nice and tuff) I LOVE to drive weather it's around this BS lil town of mine or across country. Installing stereo's when I get the chance, I love when I have to rip out some teenagers mess of a stereo install but it never bothers me to show them the correct way to do it so they themselves wont have to pay later on ya know. There's also pickin on my wife, has to be one of my fav things to do. She's so easy to mess with as long as she doesn't have a cast iron skillet in her hand that is.

Last thing would be riding my Harley but it's useless in the snow but when it clears up it's my #1 passion to do. Even if it is a 1st gear run around the yard with my boy on the gas tank.

jays, thanks for the info!

It seems like there are quite a few members on here that have very similar hobbies other than cars. Photography is kind of expected as most of us who like a good clean F-body like to take pictures of it.

It's crazy how many collecters we have on here!

Well for me, my biggest hobby, actually above cars is music. I've been playing guitar for quite a few years now. I also love to design, that shit is addicting when you finally start getting good at it.

I couldn't agree more. Its one thing to enjoy something. But when you find something you enjoy that you really become good at, it really takes the enjoyment to a new level!

I also have a signed Tedy Bruschi jersey (met him a few years ago and got him to sign it), signed Tedy Bruschi rookie card, signed doug Flutie football card, and a collectors NFL superbowl matchup football that I won at a casino when I was like 10.
