View Full Version : My rats nest :(
So, looking through the "engine bay" thread.. Ive realized mine isnt worthy of a photo to any extent.
So it needs attention.
How are you guys doing it and what are you using? I would like to get my strut towers shining again, but from what I can tell, they have 15 years of shit on them... so I dont think thats gonna fare too well.
The underhood of this car was NOT taken care of and its showing badly.

Use goo gone if its got that sticky undercoating. Worked great for me. If not simple green and alot of time with a wet rag.

I might have to repaint the strut towers. I really dont see them coming clean with simple green. Maybe I'll do the satin black engine bay like everybody else..... and their mom.

:puke:
Unless you have a better idea.....
Im embarrassed to even crack the hood open and inch or two.
Let alone leaving it wide open at a show.
Or the track.
I cant sleep at night.

That's exactly what's getting ready to happen to mine. Simple Green and a power washer. Too bad the paint is pretty scraped up too.
So just Simple Green the hell out of everything (besides the beloved opti obviously) and let it soak for awhile? Scrub what I can with a brush? I guess it'll have directions on the bottle haha.

wrap up electricals with little plastic baggies.
spray this everywhere http://www.hardwarestore.com/media/product/241943_front200.jpg
let it stand.. scrub with a wet rag and a toothbrush..
spray everything off with a hose.. watch the pressure with the electricals and the opti..
dry everything and leave the hood up with the sun shining into the engine bay for 30-45 minutes until you start it back up.
you'd be surprised how much stuff is washed to your driveway. i was really pleased
