Hey guys im just wondering if the black out covers that people put on their car are illegal. I was thinkin about gettinga pair but i wanna know if i can get in trouble for them. They just pop on and off right? im in phx az if that matters. Thanks guys.

they are illegal . but if you hunt and read the laws, i believe if you put a strip of reflective tape at the bottom then it is legal. from what I've read, one brake light at the outer most portion of the rear of the car is all that is needed and visible up to 1000ft i think? and the center rear on the wing is enough. i can't remember what it said about blinkers. what makes them illegal is that the covers cover the reflective portion of the tail lights. the reflectors need to be visible up to 500ft.. if i remember right, that's what it says for North Dakota.. i only put mine on at car show's. it's just one less reason to give a cop to pull me over

If the box says "For off road use only" as it in fact does, then that means it isn't DOT approved and is illegal for use on public roads.
