    Default Monster Motorsport 4L60...

What are your opinions of monster motorsports 4l60E trannys? In 2004 I ran across a great deal on a new one and put it in my 95 Z28. The car has been sitting ever since so I haven't even put the break in miles on the transmission but I plan to finish the car this summer. It will not be making more than 450hp with 3.73 gear in a 7.5" on drag radials and I hope the tranny will last but most people I have talked with do not speak highly of monster.

Heh, I'm sure @Cahall and @Madman337 can tell you plenty of horror stories about Monster transmissions. If it holds together for you, then you should probably go buy a lotto ticket haha.

It's not ethical to bash another shops work. However, you've already said it. You've already heard all the horror stories about their stuff.

I should be pulling mine out very soon and it failed before it even left the driveway and as they respond on the net with such terms as "incorrect installation" they can not say that about mine because I not only have been Master certified by the ASE in not just Automotive but Medium/heavy truck repair as well and I worked for GM as a heavy line tech and I have replaced many engines and transmissions and I know how to do it the right way. They say they tried to work with me and all I did was bash them online and would not return phone calls ect which is a total lie. I know they have used junk and more than likely stock used parts in my so called "Monster" which is why it failed the way it did. I filed complaints with the Florida department of consumer affairs as well as the BBB and they answered both complaints with a canned response and here is what the BBB sent me.
    Complaint ID#: 67271720
Business Name: Monster Transmission & Performance

As you are aware, BBB has been pursuing the mediation of your complaint. You have indicated that you are not satisfied with the business's response to your issues, and the dispute appears to be at an impasse.

Our goal is to successfully bring businesses and customers together to resolve their disputes. We rely on the voluntary self-regulatory power of businesses to achieve this. In many cases, a satisfactory resolution is achieved.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to resolve the dispute to your satisfaction, and BBB can no longer pursue the matter.

Your complaint has been closed and will be reported to the public reflective of your dissatisfaction with the business. A business's complaint record influences the BBB Business Review given to people looking for information about the business.

Thank you for giving your BBB the opportunity to serve you.

    Sincerely,

    Tawnia Yovanovich

    Monster told them both this.

We have tried to help this client in several ways. When he wanted to order the transmission,we allowed him to make payments for a year. Layaway is normally 3 months, we extended him out to a year. He is stating we don't respond to him,yet he is posting the emails we sent him online. So how could we not be communicating..where did he get the emails from? When he called in with an issue, he waited a whole year to ship the unit back. No companies allow you to wait a year when you have an issue. We also inspected the unit, rebuilt it,re-tested it with out charging him anything. The payment he made was for shipping, that goes to the shipping company. Monster owns no 18 wheelers! We gave the client several options,he chose to wait a year to send it back. We waived two of his layaway payments, it was supposed to be another $20 per every 3 months past the original 3 months. Our warranty is on our website to view before purchasing and its the shortest warranty in the business. We recently offered to inspect his transmission on a live webcam, we are the only auto company to do this,we offer that to our clients for free. We apologized for the troubles and still have been trying to help him. We email him and speak to him when he calls in. He still has a warranty with us and the $499 flat bench free is available. It will cost us over $1000 to rebuild his unit. We are aware of his postings online. He is stating we aren't communicating, but he is posting emails sent from Monster to him on forums. We are not the bad guys, we go above and beyond every day for our clients. I am attaching a copy of his invoice that he faxed back in for the first warranty step. It clearly states on his invoice that"No returns, refunds or adjustments to billing after 30 days on any products from date of purchase." Please review the attached file.

My unit was DOA out of the box and they want me to spend another thousand to have them fix it? I will not pay for this unit twice which is what is being asked of me and still take the chance that I will get another faulty unit right back. I can post up responded emails if you like because the last two that I have sent asked for a refund only after I contacted you first. I was told to try to fix it myself and when that did not work and I asked for the refund all I got was ignored. News flash people, I wouldnt be here if you had just worked this out with me so go on and accuse me of being at fault somehow because all I first asked for was to have you ship me another unit so I could swap them out but you even refused that. I want my money back period.
