The earlier years got his favorite trans, the 80e. Diesel ones got the Allison, there are a few shops on the east for that rebuild.

But again, you won't be stressing the trans with an H1.

All I remember is when I would get a hmmwv up to top speed it was like entering the atmosphere...Also they could be fun to start sometime. The only way to start them sometimes was to block of the exhaust to build up pressure. granted I don't know if this applies to the civilian H1. Also do not open the rear hatch from both sides at the same time (if the civilian one does that) it is a royal pain in the ass to get it back on.

    I've built plenty of 4L80Es for H1s. It's TRUCK... Where a 4L80E belongs.

The 6.5 is a dinosaur, Idk much about em. If it's the 2006 model you get a duramax, which you can crank up to decent power easily. If you constantly beat on your trucks it's not gonna like much more than 400whp was what I was saying.

Just saw the latest episode of diesel brothers... I know they make it look cool but they don't show you how insanely slow that thing is and you mentioned towing.... good luck towing, the one I used to drive would barley tow itself..
Now if you could afford the 06 duramax that should be quite an improvement.
