Carb single plane
Single plane guys, what manifold are you guys using? Victor Jr? Super Vic? Anybody ever use, or consider using a Holley Strip Dominator?

I'm running a Professional Product Super Hurricane, with a custom elbow. From what I've heard, this manifold is down about 15hp from a Super Vic on a 575-600hp engine.

It would be wise to do a search on high-hp N/A engines in the sbc family. Find out what the carb guys that run bigger cube sbc's run. Ab LT1 is basically the same thing.

Vic Jr here that LE worked his magic on. Choking the shit out of it with a ultra low profile.

That's kinda why I was asking. I know several guys running big inch SBC's and they are all running intake manifolds that are, for lack of a better term, bigger, than the Victor Jr. IE: Super Vic II's or Holley Strip Dominators. In an old Car Craft article where they did a dyno comparison of 19 single planes, the Super Vic II made 26hp and 10lb/ft more than the Victor Jr. as well as much better average torque., and the Holley was very close to the Super Vic.
My combo is a Ellwein Engines, 396 LT1 with Trickflow 212cc 21* Heads by Advance Inductions with an AI custom solid roller cam, and a converted Victor Jr, with a 750 Holley. It made 640hp@6800 w/573lb/ft@5100 at the flywheel.

I'd bet money you'd pick up power with a bigger carb and a Super Vic. 640hp is a ton as it sits.
