Thread: My 1st LTX Shootout Mod

Threaded View

Looks good man. Does the heater work ok with out using the heater valve? I haven't run my lines yet for the heater. I just capped them off at the pump. Did you ever make it to a tnt? Curious to see what it runs. My local strip opens tonight but it's going to rain.

The heater seems to work ok without the valve. I just used the whole hose assembly from the 94. It may blow to much hot air into the cabin in the summer, but we will worry about that later. I have made it to the track a couple time and it runs pretty good. My best has been a 13.49@103 with a 2.0x 60ft. I am pretty happy with that with so few mods on street tires and a 2.73:1 rear gear. I will be dropping it off at the body shop next week and ordering up a set of drag radials for the Shootout. Hope to see yours sometime.

On my setup I just got a few feet of 5/8" and 3/4"(might have been 1/2" and 5/8") heater hoses then ran them directly to the heater core. I ran the hoses over the top of the engine. The interior doesn't get warm at all as long as you have the heater switch set all the way to cold.

Heater valves are just another thing that can break. I've had two of them break in the past. Plus, I think its a good thing to have coolant circulating through the heater core rather than it sitting and causing clogs.
