    I don't understand why you're limited to 3:45's?

A S60 can only go down to 3.54 gear set. In my car, 373s limit me to 140 trap with current redline.

A turbo car could go even lower and negate the need to have OD trans.

I have a Moser 12 bolt in my Firebird. It is nice heavy duty with 3:90 gears but they starting to whine just a bit, I drag race it and street beat it for about 6-7 years now, that is why I went with an S60 this time for the Camaro, plus the sale and free shipping.
The limit to the 12 bolt is limited ability to take abuse. The S60 is it's inability to go beyond 3.54 gears limited trap speed to 140. 9in has a wide gamit of gear selection and strength.

S60 carries a 25# weight penalty over the 12-bolt, but has lower (5%) power losses than the 12-bolt (7%). 9-inch pushes the power loss to 10%. Doesn't the S60 require a shorter driveshaft?

My 12-bolt received very limited wear and tear. But when the car still had the T56 and a McLeod Street Twin, and I was doing 5,000+ RPM dumps on sticky tires, there always seemed to be a subtle change in the sound of the gears after a day at the track. I would say limit the 12-bolt to 750 HP behind a standard trans. With the TH400 it seems much more tolerant of abuse.

As far as swapping center sections with the 9-inch, the torque arm mount, at least with Moser's design, complicates things, particularly if you are try to do the swap in a rush at the track.

Can't you just use a shorter tire with the S60 to help with the ratio issue?

Taller tire.... with a 140 MPH trap speed/red line limit, going from a 26" --> 28" tire would add about 10 MPH. Or 28" --> 30", but that requires fender mods.
