    Default Coolant leak

The other day I was loosing coolant but no puddle. So I was reluctant to check it out. Plus I work on boats all week and its cold ECT... So it warmed up abit and well I miss driving the car. I checked it out, not the normal stuff, W/P, hoses. Its the water pump mounting gaskets Been 5 years Why now? Anyway going to have to wait till the weekend. Thought Id shre this with you guys. Ive never seen this maybe right after a wp install not 5 years later.

try and snug the WP bolts up. It may stop the weeping gaskets

If you pull pump for new gaskets, I always use a skim coat of the Permatex Water Pump RTV on each side of the gasket

The lower driver side WP bolt needs thread sealer on it. Goes into water jacket.

Any input on water pump now that I don't trust it. I know it was a Delco but now that Im not sure it will last. Any latest recommends would be grand thanks. Not doing the elec pump yet.

is it the 12527741 or 251556? the later being the CHEAPER one.

    ^^^this.

Op, if the WP is 5 years old and the leak is just the gaskets...re-use the "known" good pump

and do use some WP RTV on both sides of the gaskets

Well I know its been awhile but the weather was nice today. This is hard to tell you guys being a Technition and all. But the reason my wp gaskets failed is. The center bolts where loose and probably a couple more. Oh yeah and I forgot the coil bracket bolt ug.... Its dark and all of my lights have died. Maybe this weekend Ill have good news. 5 years its been since I did the wp.

Be sure to use sealant on the water pump bolts.

Yes sir they are not blind. I think a couple are but might help keep the bolts tight. Got the wp sealant permatex.
