I suspect that you are the doctors' early warning system if anything opens up unexpectedly (It won't). They want you feeling at least a little pain so you can tell them if it increases. Otherwise you would get to control your own morphine drip.

Well, last nite at some point while texting, I passed out... 1st night sleep since surgery amd it was amazing!!!

Other then being awoken for meds and blood draw, I slept right till 6am..

Few updates... first one that will make Angela happy when she visits today, I learned that I have a heat/ac controller in my room. Haha, she was freezing yesterday.

Second, when I was awoken at 6am, for blood work, I learned that my temp illeostomy bag was almost full to the top, suprising doctors and nurses when I called them in, as that means my stomach is waking up suddenly...

3rd, still depending on pain med as the pain blocks I had recieved during surgery that did not work that well, are expected to wear off today and cause me added discomfort

Fourth... these damn hiccups that have been plaguing me daily for long periods of time are back again... I was able to sleep awesone for the first time since surgery with no hiccups but upon my first drink of water... they started, and 40 minutes later they are still goin.

Finally, my BP and Heart have been high from what I believe is "white coat syndrome. They are still not low yet, but they are beginning to drop and even with violent hiccups this am... everything had dropped significantly from where they were, which has been a concern regarding post surgery injury or infection...so definitely something positive.

    Wooo hoooo... moving right along!!!

Hang in there Popo, the worst should now be over as the healing process is in progress. As time continues to pass you will note further improvements in your health, although it never occurs quite as quickly as we would like. You will continue to be in my prayers.
