    Found my instructions and it says to wire it differently ..... just to a regular power and ground. If I touch it across the battery it works great so I'm probably way over thinking this but is this how am actually supposed to wire it on the card board?

    If you do not have 470 ohmn in the line, the field will not be excited and you will get nada.

    Not sure if you are getting more than 12v in that video, so if not, you need to will in a resistor in series with the gauge.

    Or run the gauge separate from the excite lead.

    switch to 12v+ to resistor to plug in alt

    gauge should be just a wire to the back of alt that goes to battery.
