Thread: RPM raise for A/C

Moe,
I see the idle tables for "In Gear" and "In Neutral" but I assume that won't affect anything with the A/C being turned on.
My IAC table looks like this. Is this what you are wanting when you asked for my IAC counts or are you wanting to know what it reads while running?
-40 -28 -16 -4 8 20 32 44 56 68 80 92 104 116
100 90 60 48 40 33 27 21 17 14 11 10 10 10
As for follower tables I see" IAC throttle follower vs MPH" but again this doesn't help me with A/C on at idle.
Thanks for looking!1996 Z28, M6, T-tops, stock rear, LE stock ported heads (not typical LE stage, it's a friend of a friend deal), Custom cam and tune from JimTune, CR 11.1, Pacesetter LT, Ram Powergrip HD, flowmaster original 40, Eiback prokit, 18" corvette black wheels from ebay, meizere electric w/p, relocated battery to spare tire well, dd with AC Delco Opti.

Look at your PCM with a scanner, and watch what happens to the IAC counts when you turn on the A/C, or turn the steering wheel. What are the counts at idle, no A/C? When you turn on the A/C and RPM drops, does the PCM increase the IAC counts to raise the RPM back where it was? Ditto with the PS.
The "counts" you see on the scanner are what the PCM is telling the IAC motor to do, move the pintle to the location representing the number of "step" or "counts". There is no feedback as to the IAC motor's actual position, or for the electrical circuit. There are no codes for the IAC in OBD-1, but in OBD-2 there are P0506 and P0507. During engine running, the PCM moves the IAC motor, and watches the MAP sensor to see if there is the expected change. No change tells the PCM the IAC is not functioning.
If you clean the IAC, it is easy to damage. Solvent should not be allowed to get into the electronics. Hold the pintle pointing down. Do not move the pintle on a used IAC because it will damage the stepper motor.SOLD - GONE TO A (VERY) GOOD HOME ! - 94 Formula A3+1: 381ci forged stroker - Callies Stealth, Oliver 5.85 billet rods, BME nitrous pistons / CNC LT4 heads / CC solid roller / TH400+GearVendors OD / 4.11 Strange 12-bolt / 300-shot N2O / Spohn Suspension / roll bar / MoTeC M48 Pro engine management system /a few other odds 'n ends.

Injuneer,
Thanks I thought that is what Moe wanted but I wasn't for sure. I will see if I can get my hands on a scanner this evening.1996 Z28, M6, T-tops, stock rear, LE stock ported heads (not typical LE stage, it's a friend of a friend deal), Custom cam and tune from JimTune, CR 11.1, Pacesetter LT, Ram Powergrip HD, flowmaster original 40, Eiback prokit, 18" corvette black wheels from ebay, meizere electric w/p, relocated battery to spare tire well, dd with AC Delco Opti.

My post wasn't related to Moe's input, not intending to interfere with his advice. Just seemed like an easy way to figure out if the IAC system was working.
